ICICI Bank is an Indian multinational banking and financial services company. As of 2018, it is the second largest bank in India, in terms of assets and market capitalization. Since I am fascinated by the concept of financial markets and accounting, interning at ICICI Bank was always on my mind. Finally, when I got a chance to do an internship at ICICI Bank, I was thrilled to the core.

What is the selection process for an internship at ICICI Bank?

My story of landing an internship is full of ups and downs. Since no banks come to our college to offer internships, I applied for this internship on my own. The selection process at ICICI Bank consisted of:

  1. CV Shortlisting
  2. Personal Interview

Waiting for that interview call was one of the longest waits of my life. But when it came, it was totally worth it. All my efforts proved fruitful when I was finally selected for an internship at ICICI Bank. I was selected as a Market Research intern.

What was my role during my internship?

Being a Market Research intern at ICICI Bank, I engaged in a lot of primary and secondary research. Collecting data, compiling information and developing reports, at times proved tiring but was always enriching. My role was very diverse and allowed me to dig deeper into my area of interest, which is Financing.

I also worked on a live project during my internship at ICICI Bank. My happiness knew no bounds when I was informed that my final model is going to be implemented by the bank as they found it to be very detailed and effective.

What did I learn during my internship at ICICI Bank?

During the course of my internship at ICICI Bank, I got a brilliant chance to hone my soft skills amidst the corporate culture. I became a better communicator, learned the art of working in a team, and understood the importance of punctuality. Moreover, I got the first-hand experience of the corporate world. All of this helped me a great deal in boosting my confidence level. I could not have asked for anything more.

What is the work culture at ICICI Bank?

Lucky, as many would say, I did not have to move out of Mumbai to pursue my internship at ICICI Bank. ICICI Bank has a supportive, warm, and welcoming work culture. No one, be it an employee or an intern, feels like an outsider. To break the ice, the team took us out to Della Resort in Lonavala. It was such a different experience. They spoke at length about life and work which was quite enlightening. This fun-filled session allowed all the newbies to become a part of the ICICI family.

If working with ICICI Bank was a choice, I would grab this opportunity in the blink of an eye. Amazing people, flexible timings, helpful seniors, all make ICICI Bank the best place to work at. This is accompanied by an immense scope for self-development which no other bank presently offers.

What did I learn from my mentor?

Getting a supportive and encouraging mentor is a privilege on its own. I was fortunate enough to have a mentor who guided me in each step. His review sessions were beneficial and helped me in identifying my weak areas. This internship would not have been the same without his continuous guidance and support.

To summarise, my internship at ICICI Bank was an enriching experience. It helped me in exploring my love for financial markets more deeply. It gave me practical exposure in this field. I also had an opportunity to forge connections that will last a lifetime. Doing an internship at ICICI Bank was a reality check of my true potential.
