How Priyanka's internship at Pernod Ricard India changed her outlook towards the wine industry?
Pernod Ricard India holds one of the most comprehensive and premium portfolios in the Wine Industry led by Indian whiskeys such as Royal Stag, Blenders' Pride, and Imperial Blue. An internship with Pernod Ricard India could provide me the much-needed experience which no textbook could ever guarantee. I had always wanted to work in a niche industry. In addition to this, it was also a great brand. So, there was no looking back.

What is the selection process for an internship at Pernod Ricard India?

The selection process for an internship at Pernod Ricard India consisted of the following rounds:

  1. Shortlisting of candidates on the basis of CV

  2. Two interview rounds

After clearing all the rounds, I was finally selected for an internship at Pernod Ricard India. The sense of excitement that I felt on my selection is inexpressible in words.

What was my role during my internship at Pernod Ricard India?

During the course of my internship at Pernod Ricard India, I worked on 3 projects:

  1. The first one was a comparative role study between various rules of finance and strategy on the basis of KRAs, KPIs, and stakeholders.

  2. The second project was on Functional Capability Building for Frontline Management in Sales and Trade Marketing.

  3. The third was the measurement of effective implementation of Workday Software and giving recommendations for its effective usage.

All these projects helped me a great deal in understanding the dynamics of the wine industry in India. Visiting different markets to collect information was challenging but at the same time rewarding experience. I understood the technicalities involved in collecting unbiased and relevant information.

What did I learn during my internship?

My internship gave me enough room to work on multiple skills. To name a few, Multitasking, Stakeholder Management, Business Interview taking skills, Skill Gap Analysis, Content Curation, Vendor Management, and Benchmarking were some of my core learnings. In the process, I could work with people across different departments. This played an instrumental role in broadening my horizon and contributing towards my holistic development.

I moved to Gurgaon to pursue my internship. The most interesting aspect of my internship was the market visits. As a part of these visits, I traveled to different cities across India. I got a chance to understand the whole supply chain of the wine industry which was quite informative. My outlook towards the wine industry took a U-turn after this internship at Pernod Ricard India.

What is the work culture at Pernod Ricard India?

To familiarize us with the company’s work dynamics, all of us went on an outing to a wine company. All the tables were booked for us. Various brands of whiskey and wine were served. All the interns got a chance to interact with senior management. We talked about both, personal and professional stuff. This session broke the ice between us and made all of us feel at home.

Given a chance, I would definitely love to work with Pernod Ricard India because of their commendable work culture. There is immense scope for all-round development. The People-Centric Policies at Pernod Ricard India make it the best place to work at.

In a nutshell, interning at Pernod Ricard India was nothing less than a dream come true. I got hands-on experience in the working of the wine industry. My internship has given me memories that I am going to cherish forever. Networking and connections were the plus points of this experience.
