How to win OnePlus ET Prime Intellect -By Prapti Jain from IIM Rohtak

OnePlus ET Prime Intellect is an Economic Times initiative to find the most innovative and creative management graduates. Designed as a case study challenge, the project provides management students with an opportunity to experience real-life business problems and issues related to the process of solving those business challenges.

A large number of students participated in OnePlus ET Prime Intellect. The competition had three rounds.

  1. Case submission
  2. On-ground case presentation
  3. Program finale

The crisis got us together virtually

The competition had quite a number of finalists. It was an individual competition and there were 151 students across India who made it to the finale. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing global crisis (COVID-19), we were unable to interact with each other.
This competition was unique in itself because of the level of detail it required us to go to. And the COVID-19 crisis made it more peculiar. It was exciting. The judges were thorough with the subject and the teams were quite cooperative during the entire journey.

Find your strength

I worked for around 15 days on the case study. My strategy was to study this sector as extensively as possible. I read reports, research papers and even glanced through a lot of newspaper articles to know about the development in this sector. To get to the core, I got in touch with people working in this industry via local contacts and LinkedIn. Since the case study was technical in nature, it was a little difficult to understand the nuances initially. But after some time, the terminology and the sector itself became quite clear and interesting. It was like a trial and error adjustment and in the end, it worked out really well.

Faith in Optimism

I learned that it's always necessary to study all the aspects. It helps to have an optimistic approach. Consider the best-case scenario. This method works in life and in business as well. All we need to do is hope for the best and prepare for the worst.
