Securing the Runners-Up position for ICICI Bank Beat The Curve was an amazing moment in itself but the cherry on the cake was the opportunity to attend the Innovation Workshop at Singapore Management University (SMU). We felt gratified and content. This competition gave us a unique challenge to solve the problem of rural banking and how we can bring digitalization to this sector and that in itself was enough an impetus for us to go ahead and participate.
We traveled to the ICICI Digital Village in Nashik to understand their issues/challenges. We also talked with multiple experts working in rural banking and rural entrepreneurship sector to come up with a solution. This helped us in getting a better understanding and a broader perspective on the problem.
As a team, we spent a lot of time discussing core problems we needed to solve and this helped us to be on the same track while designing the solution. Our team’s forte was that we got excellent support from our college faculties and this helped us to think out of the box while coming up with a solution. We always believed that if we spend more time in problem analysis and primary research, it will help us to come up with a solution which will be more sustainable. Kavita and I always believed that some amount of disagreement is necessary for the discussions for a successful outcome.
There were 6 teams in the finals. According to me, IIM Shillong was our toughest competitor as they also spent a large amount of time in understanding the problem and then coming up with the overall solution. This being the inaugural year of this competition, ICICI bank had made sure that students were given the first-hand experience through primary research.
ICICI Bank Beat The Curve competition was enriching as we were given a chance to undergo primary research in the ICICI Digital Villages. I got to know about the rural banking and how women can play an important role in bringing financial transformation in the rural population.
Each Corporate organized competition is unique in its own way. From structure to judging criteria. Read more about ICICI Bank Beat The Curve and the organizers ICICI Bank.
