Now apply at IIT Madras without JEE score and learn data science!

Long back in 2020, IIT Madras launched an online Data Science Program, and it is now inviting fresh applications for its next batch of the program. The program has the aim of making a data scientist out of everyone who has passed 12th grade, and with English & Maths in 10th grade, no matter what your geographic location, academic background, or profession is.

The program is a great opportunity for students to study in IIT Madras and that too without requiring to clear Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). Along with their on-campus courses, students will be able to pursue a diploma in programming and data science.

Professor in charge of the Data Science program, Andrew Thangaraj, said that one can build a career in programming and data science through this diploma by IIT Madras. The first batch will be completing the foundation level this August 2021, and the convocation is on the cards.

This diploma is a unique model of learning, which has combined online course delivery with in-person evaluation. This makes it a first-of-its-kind in the world. Further, IIT Madras is providing scholarships of up to 75% on the course fee in order to support students belonging to disadvantaged backgrounds.

For the application process, the applicants will have to go through a qualifier process where the IIT will provide 4 weeks of online training via video lectures, assignments, and live interaction sessions by course instructors. After the completion of online assignments, students will be eligible to appear for the qualifier exam. Prospects who would be able to clear the qualifier exam will be offered admission to the foundation level.

30th August 2021 will be the last date for applying to the next batch of this data science program. The classes for the next qualifier batch are scheduled to commence in September 2021. Interested students may apply through their website: onlinedegree.iitm.ac.in.
