IIT Roorkee to offer a new online certificate course in data science

Anyone who is interested in understanding the basics of Python scripting and its principles can apply to the online certificate course in Data Science rolled out by IIT Roorkee. This is a leg up for both the students and professionals who wish to boost their career prospects in this niche. This course on data science is designed creatively that will offer about forty hours of instructor-led live (online) classes. All the lectures that are included in this certificate course will be delivered by the IIT Roorkee faculty. What makes it more interesting is that the participants will get an opportunity for hands-on sessions from industry experts.

Course highlights and other details

Spread over a time frame of fourteen days, the course is also inclusive of three hours of doubt clearing sessions that will be held on weekends. For this online certificate course, there are merely sixty seats which will be offered to the students on a first-come-first-serve basis. An added benefit of the course structure is that students will receive certificates from E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee upon successful completion.

Besides Python scripting, the course is structured in such a way that it teaches the learners the design and implementation of real-world machine learning (MI) and algorithm applications. The course will focus on:

1. Numpy, Pandas, and EDA
2. Introduction to packages in Python
3. Linear Regression and Logistic Regression
4. Supervised and unsupervised learning
5. Image processing with MLP
6. Clustering, and K-means
7. NLP (Natural Language Processing)
8. Projects and assignments

Learners will also be given a chance to grasp knowledge with real-life problems like handwritten optical image recognition and explanatory analysis on Covid-19 via project works. No prior knowledge as such is required before signing up for the course. However, a basic knowledge of any programming language will be advantageous to the learners.

The last date to register for it is October 26th, 2020, and interested students are required to pay a fee of INR 8,000. The online course will commence from October 28th, 2020 and end on November 10th, 2020.
