Infosys Ingenious 2018 Winners announced

Ingenious is the annual inter b-school competition conducted by Infosys for select business colleges in India. It was conceptualized in 2008 as a case study competition, and over the years it has developed to incorporate quizzes, simulations, and business plans as a part of the competition which makes it as an organic whole.

Customarily, 15 business schools had been part of the challenge for the title of Infosys Ingenious. However, this year the stakes were higher with 40 new colleges aboard in the blend fighting for the title.

Ingenious 2018 had four gripping rounds of increasing difficulty and the teams had to make their way to the Grand Finale by scoring the best by utilizing their fine skills and proving their ingenuity.

Round 1

All the participating colleges were divided into two classifications –

The first class of schools were called as Defenders. This classification incorporated schools that Infosys has been drawing in with year on year. Round 1 for the Defenders had been an intra-college quizzing round where teams earned aggregate score by endeavouring eight tests spread across over about fourteen days. As Defenders, teams go up against each other from their respective campuses and the best 10 teams from every school got an opportunity to proceed to Round 2.

Contenders made up the second group of schools in the opposition. In lieu of popular interest, Infosys have included 35 schools that have an association with Infosys and wished to be a part of Ingenious this year! Round 1 for the Contenders was an inter-school Quizzing round where teams aimed to get the highest aggregate score by endeavouring eight tests spread across over fourteen days. All the participating teams were loggerheads with each other and the best 20 teams were pushed forward to Round 2 of the contest.

Round 2

This round resembled the first with an extra component of betting. Scores from the Round 1, were categorized into three buckets: Gold, Silver, and Bronze. In this round, 200 Contenders and 20 Defenders contented against each other and only 30 teams made it to the next round.

Round 3

Top 30 teams that survived the difficult second phase reached the penultimate round of Ingenious 2018. It was an online Case-study challenge seeking unconventional interpretations and innovative approaches to problem-solving. This round provided the team members with the privilege to move beyond the conventional approach by creating a solution video instead of a written solution. Best Five teams whose entries were adjudged as deserving by the panel of experts of Infosys were elevated to the grand finale round.

The top five teams of Ingenious 2018 were Monk Inc from Bharathidasan Institute of Management, Tiruchirapalli, The Back Benchers from Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology, Pune, Trahi from Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, Grey Matter from SCHMRD, Pune and KG10 from Great Lakes Institute of Management, Chennai.

Grand Finale

The Grand Finale of Ingenious 2018 was held at the Infosys headquarter in Bangalore. Five finalists were flown down for the two-day finale event. Teams presented their ingenuously crafted business plans to the esteemed panel of jury and industry experts.

Winners and Awards

Team Monk Inc comprising of D Ashwin, K Hariharan and B Sri Krishna Prashanth and Team Grey Matter comprising of Kanika Arora, Akansha and Pranav Rawat were adjudged as the winner and the runner-up respectively for Infosys Ingenious 2018.

 

Prizes

The Champion team was awarded ₹ 1,00,000 and the runner-up team received ₹ 60,000. There were other exciting prizes worth ₹ 3,40,000 along with Pre-placement interviews for students from top teams in their final year.
