ABG Stratos 2018 was a challenging competition due to its different multiple levels. However, I am very happy that the hard work we have put forward has been paid off.
It was a one-of-its-kind competition which had both simulation and case study in its framework and it gave us a wonderful opportunity to learn the real-life market scenario and apply our knowledge gathered to solve the problems.
Since the first round had a Simulation Game, it checked our decision-making skills. However, the real twist came in with the case in the second round. We understood the problem statement and developed an empathetic approach to solving the problem. It took us around 2 weeks of time to finally come up with the solution to the problem. However, the most challenging phase experienced by us was while evaluating the recommendations. Balancing of various elements is a key to the optimum performance of any project for that matter and we were trying to achieve this by evaluating all the pros and cons to get clarity.
Teamwork is always crucial for a group project. And when you have three heads coming together, the difference in opinion arises naturally. Though we had a few heated arguments, however, it became one of the main reasons for winning the competition. These differences enabled us to unthink and rethink the alternatives.
Our team had a diversified set of the talent pool. One member had a good hold in Finance while others were good at Marketing, critical thinking and Ideation. This diversity proved to be beneficial rummage through a plethora of ideas and finally hook on to the ideal.
The finale was a big event with 10 teams from different campuses came together for the final fight to win the ABG Stratos‘18 crown. Though all the teams had similar skills, I personally found ISB to be our toughest competitor because of their excellent soft skills.
The whole competition was organized in an excellent way and it was a great opportunity to meet the senior leadership of ABG who had been our judges. The decision made by them was good and we got to learn a lot from the insights shared by us.
Though the crown was taken by someone else, this competition proved to be an immense learning experience. There had been certain moments which made us feel proud of our achievements, such as the way we divided the tasks amongst ourselves and executed them within the limited timeframe is one of the special moment.
Each corporate organized competition is unique in its own way. From structure to judging criteria. Read more about Aditya Birla Group's Stratos 2018 and the organizers Aditya Birla Group. Other competitions organized by Aditya Birla Group; Aditya Birla Group’s HeadstaRt
