ICICI Bigwigs Share Invaluable Advice At Beat The Curve 2022

India’s leading private bank, ICICI, recently concluded an exciting and enriching case study competition- Beat The Curve 2022. The case study competition was all about providing a fair platform to the creative ideas of emerging innovators to empower them to shape the future. This case study competition thus brought to light numerous innovative ideas that were targeted towards dealing with various bottlenecks faced in the banking industry. Considering the quality of participants, Beat The Curve 2022 witnessed a nip-and-tuck competition, giving the jury a tough time arriving at the final decision.

ICICI Beat The Curve 2022 In A Nutshell

The case study competition consisted of several grueling rounds that put the mettle of the participants to the test. Paving their way through thousands of participants, the 4 member-team from IIM Nagpur- Team Phantom, was crowned as the grand finale winner of ICICI Beat The Curve. The team focussed on providing solutions to issues faced by MSME such as cumbersome loan processes, and digital and financial illiteracy. Team PASSed out from IIM Shillong and Team Sine Wave from XLRI Jamshedpur bagged the first runner-up and second runner-up positions respectively. 

At the end of the grand event, ICICI’s senior stalwarts shared their thoughtful perspectives with the participants. Here is a glimpse of what they said. 

Wizards share their words of wisdom

Apart from the esteemed jury, many senior leaders of ICICI graced the occasion with their presence. Sandeep Batra, Executive Director on the board of ICICI Bank, was invited to the stage to share his piece of advice with the contestants. He spoke of how volatility experienced during the pandemic prompted people to learn more about health, life, and long-term planning. He commended the pace at which digitalization accelerated owing to the disruption that the world. Seeing the calibre of the young generation, Sandeep Batra highlighted how the current decade would be dominated by India. He also expanded on how case study competitions help to provide technology solutions that positively impact human lives. 

Sandeep Batra, who has been a part of ICICI since the year 2000, also advised the young generation to stick to the principles of fairness and trust-building as they move ahead in life. He said,

You are the CEO of your life and career but the most important thing is to leave a positive impact with whatever you do. Rather than comparing our lives with others, we must ask ourselves every day if we have given our best or not.” 

“Participating is more important than winning or losing”

Rakesh Jha, Executive Director on the board of ICICI Bank was invited to the podium to share his inspiring words with the audience. Jha heads the Retail Banking business of the Bank and also manages the Rural & Agriculture and Small and Medium Enterprises of ICICI. He appreciated the efforts of the participants and highlighted how the three themes on which the presentations were based-ESG, Analytics, and MSME, are immensely important for the banking sector. 

Impressed by the creative names of the teams and their zeal, Rakesh Jha said that participation matters more than the final outcome. His simple advice for young innovators is to do what they love.

ICICI Beat the Curve 2022 offered an enriching platform for students and inspired them to explore new possibilities. The precious takeaways gathered during the competition will certainly guide them as they climb their career ladders to become future business leaders.
