The KPMG Ideation Challenge 2022- a student challenge like no other!
The KPMG Ideation Challenge had teams across colleges put forth their ingenious ideas designed around carbon neutrality. The Challenge had four rounds namely:
- Team Introduction Video Submission
- Virtual Prelims
- Virtual Semi-Finals
- Virtual National Finale
Gliding their way through the competition, Team ALJKAS from Prin. L.N. Welingkar Institute of Management Development and Research, Mumbai emerged as winners while Team Carbon 6 from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) (ISM), Dhanbad stood second.
Rewards? There were amazing cash prizes to be won. The winning team got a cash prize of INR 5 Lakhs and the Runner-Up Team in the National Finale got INR 3 Lakhs. Both the teams also fetched guaranteed internships with KPMG India.
We spoke to the Runners-up team Carbon 6 to know their experience at KPMG Ideation Challenge 2022. Let’s know what their journey was like.
“An eye opening experience”
Carbon-6 included six members from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) (ISM), Dhanbad-B S Meghma, Anurag Bhattacharya, Ayush Tripathi, Ayush Sharma, Ayush Kumar Jha, Hritwik Ranjan.
For the 6 members, KPMG Ideation Challenge 2022 was rewarding and eye-opening. The Team said,
“We learnt a lot throughout the journey and came up with new ways to meet the requirements of the competition. For example, we divided the project-work into different segments, and each one of us had the final say in our own segment. We made our decisions based on merit of the suggestions and this way we seldom had any disagreements.”
When asked about the strategy, Carbon 6 revealed that they tried to get their ideas peer-reviewed as much as possible. The Team further added,
“The major challenge that we faced was adaptation to campus life after we were called back to our college as COVID situation got under control. Managing offline classes and KPMG Challenge project was quite difficult but we somehow managed to balance between the two.”
Biggest takeaway?
As per Carbon 6, the team was able to put their best foot forward because of their team coordination and this is what the competition taught them.
“The competition taught us the significance of a well-synchronized team and how synergy between team mates is absolutely fundamental to building a good project. We had the best minds working on our prototype, and our product website. The marketing end was handled by an amazing marketing strategist, a creative video editor and an efficient content creator. And when it came to the business model and product framework, everyone’s combined efforts made it quite achievable; all of this took our product to the next level.”
“KPMG Ideation Challenge brought us closer, made us richer in true sense”
Team Carbon 6’s experience at KPMG Ideation enhanced their knowledge and skills.Turning different ideas of the six team mates into a workable project taught them more than books could have. The Team said,
“We built a project to change how energy, economy and emissions are perceived by the world at large and we would love to reward ourselves for a job well done. KPMG Ideation Challenge 2022 brought us closer and enriched our knowledge in a true sense.”
“And it made us richer….quite literally too!” Carbon 6 quipped.
Kudos to the Team for their grand performance!
