My Journey From Being The National Finalist At Reliance TUP 6.0 To Cracking The PPI Of Reliance Industries – Ishan Jaggi, T. A. Pai Management Institute, Manipal
“Sometimes the journey is more important than the destination.”
This quote definitely holds true for Ishan Jaggi, an MBA grad from T. A. Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), Manipal. His team- Team Nairobi, made it to the Top 11 at Reliance TUP 6.0, fetching them Pre-Placement Interview offers along with an enriching experience that helped them fine-tune their skills. Here is Ishan sharing his learnings with us.
I have always been a multidisciplinary thinker. Thus, in spite being a Biotechnology graduate and working in domains like agriculture, microbiology, food processing etc., I have been enthusiastic about the capital markets too. This somewhere inclined me towards an MBA course and led me to accumulate various skills that shaped my career. And competitions such as Reliance TUP 6.0 have helped me come a long way.
Having reached the Grand Finale of Reliance TUP 6.0 in the first year of my MBA journey, I feel that one must never get bogged down by challenges. When I started out, right from forming a team to understanding the nitty-gritty of the competitions, it felt difficult initially. But gradually, everything worked out. Once we formed a team, we started participating in various competitions.
Initially, we did not even clear the quiz rounds of most competitions as we had just started our MBA and needed to learn many concepts. But then gradually our hard work and persistence paid off and we started cracking almost every quiz round, and also got shortlisted for campus rounds of corporate competitions. This immensely boosted our confidence and motivated us to do even better, thus leading us to emerge as campus winners in Reliance TUP 6.0. Even though we did not manage to win in the Grand Finale, we were happy that our team (Team Nairobi) reached in the Top 11 and got Pre-Placement Interview (PPI) offers from Reliance. And this opened another interesting chapter of my life.
My campus placements had already started, and during that time I received an email that my Reliance PPI was going to be conducted. I was excited, but at the same time anxious about preparing for the best opportunity in my hand. I spent the next few days preparing thoroughly for the interview. I carefully went through my CV, read in-depth about the company, its different verticals, acquisitions, areas of future growth, and tried to analyse about how I could add value to one of the largest companies in India where I had always dreamt of working- Reliance Industries. I wanted to be a part of this journey of nation-building by working on new technologies and exploring different avenues to apply my knowledge across domains.
And then, the D-Day was finally there. I was done with my preparation and was eagerly looking forward to the golden opportunity. Speaking of the interview panel, they were very motivating and supportive. They made me feel very comfortable while they asked me different questions to test my acumen and understand my story better. They were receptive enough to let me ask them a few questions that I had in mind about the company and my career growth prospects there. Overall, my interview went pretty well but I was a little nervous about the final result.
I can never forget the day when I received my offer letter on the email. I was mesmerized. As I informed my family members about the good news, I happily looked back at my journey that I started from Day 1 of my MBA course to getting a job in my dream company!
