Latest update on PGCIL recruitment through GATE 2021

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) recruitment to hire engineering graduates will begin soon. The vacancies will be open for the post of Executive Trainee (ET) - 26th batch. The official notification released on their website said that “A detailed notification with specifics including the number of vacancies, category - wise breakup, application formalities, and other details shall be issued by 15th February 2021 on the career page of the website.”

Eligibility criteria for candidates

Candidates with a BE/BTech/BSc (Engineering) degree in the fields of Electrical, Electrical (Power), Electrical & Electronics, Power Systems Engineering/Power Engineering, Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Electronics & Telecommunication, Telecommunication Engineering/Electronics & Electrical Communication and Civil Engineering and a minimum 70% marks or equivalent CGPA can apply for the post of Executive Trainee (ET). Only Indian nationals can apply for this post.

Age limit for candidates 

The age limit for eligibility to apply for General, OBC, SC/ST, PWD category students will be 28 years, 31 years, 33 years, 38 years respectively as of December 31, 2020.

Eligibility for final year engineering students 

Students pursuing a degree in engineering in any of the previously mentioned fields and in their final year of study can also apply provided they have a minimum of 70% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate in all the semesters excluding the pre-final examination.

The registration process for PGCIL recruitment

Interested candidates can apply through the PGCIL website where the application form will be made available for them. Students will be required to fill in the details of their GATE exam including the registration number. Candidates with valid GATE 2021/2020/2019 scores are eligible to apply.

Qualifying criteria 

Candidates will be selected on the basis of an average score with distinct weightage given to their GATE exam score (85%), Group Discussion score (3%), and Personal Interview (12%) score

Responsibilities of Executive Trainee (ET)

The job responsibilities of an Executive Trainee will be related to the operations and maintenance of sub-stations and transmission line, testing and commissioning & managing construction activities at the site in accordance with policy 

Stipend offered  

Freshers are offered a stipend of INR 60,000 - INR 1,80,000 for the post of ET with job locations across different parts of India
