L’Oreal Sustainability Challenge 2018
Sustainability is the new age mantra as we are at the brink of the time where we have everything possible to make our lives comfortable but we won't be able to hold it for posterity due to lack of proper management and conscientiousness towards sustainability. L’Oreal is one among those brands who has realised the importance of this and conducted L’Oreal Sustainability Challenge 2018 recently.
L’Oreal sustainability program is the core of the group under the brand ‘Sharing Beauty With All’, and primarily there are 4 dimensions to it, namely producing sustainably, innovating sustainably, communicating sustainably and develop sustainably.
L’Oreal Sustainability Challenge 2018, part of the sustainability program was a digital challenge, where L’Oreal invited all the campuses to participate, wherein they had to form a group with 3 members and gave them five weeks to come up with an idea to make their campuses sustainable by implementing their ideas.
The theme chosen for this year’s challenge was “Reduce, Re-use or Recycle”, a very thoughtful idea and it can especially benefit a big and rapidly industrialising country like India, which has the second largest population and produces a large amount of waste.
L’Oreal Sustainability Challenge 2018 witnessed 6000+ registrations from more than 40 participating colleges. Out of all the participating teams only 5 teams- Indian School of Business (ISB), Management and Development Institute (MDI), Mudra Institute of Communication Ahmedabad (MICA) and Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) were declared as the finalists.
These 5 teams were invited to the L'Oréal India HQ on 19th September 2018 for the finale. There were numerous sessions planned across the day including an interaction with the Managing Director and the HR Head of the company. A session with the L'Oréal professional stylist team was planned to make the day fun and exciting for the students.
All the teams presented their innovative ideas on sustainability and “Team Herbivores” comprising of final year students Danivor Noronha, Aditya Batra and Aviral Sharma of MICA Ahmedabad’s PGDM-C course emerged as Winners in the L'Oréal Sustainability Challenge 2018. Their pledge was to "Reduce food wastage on campus and promote a healthy lifestyle for students by combining both technology and sustainability". Participants were presented with goodie bags as a token of appreciation.
