PROSPERITY: IMC’S Global Trading Challenge
MICA’s Suman Kundu shares his journey of being one of the Top 100 Competitive Business Leaders 2019!
According to me, research and the correct insights matter the most to get a win in any competition. They form the bedrock and giving maximum time to these two always worked out the best for me. My biggest strength was my work ethic. I personally believe that without having a smart work ethic, time management becomes tough and winning competitions even tougher.
I always wanted to have a team which had good chemistry. Luckily, I found that team during my first year and I stuck with them for other competitions. We had a great understanding and each one had their own expertise which added different dimensions to our solutions.
Smart work ethics came in handy again while prioritizing between competitions and college work. I used to calculate the simple trade-off between assignments and competition case studies and whichever gave better pay, I used to go for that.
The Mallennial Challenge by Bestseller will always be the most memorable competition for me. We had done intense research, like never before, regarding that case study to find groundbreaking insights.
I think the journey has taught me how to be humble and most of all, how to listen to people and analyze my own methods which have helped me improve a lot as a person. I think time management is the biggest hurdle in B-Schools. Thus, anyone who wants to reach this place needs to know how to manage time and prioritize things.
Last but not least, never let the results of these competitions get to you, they may not always reflect your true potential.
