The Department of Economic Affairs, under the Ministry of Finance, has invited applications for 15 internship positions. As per the official notification, the internship will be for a duration of six months and the application will have to be made online on the official portal. The last date to apply for the internship is 16 June 2022.

The Ministry of Finance is particularly looking for candidates who are working on specific issues such as microeconomic management, economic reforms, capital markets, exchange management, foreign investment in India, monetary policy, and Indian investment abroad. 

Eligibility For Ministry Of Finance Initiative

The following eligibility criteria have been specified by the Ministry of Finance for the latest internship opportunity: 

  • Pursuing a Postgraduate degree (session 2021-23) in Economics/ Law/ Finance/ or Management from institutes ranked within the top 25 in NIRF. 
  • Pursuing a Ph.D. degree in Economics/ Law/ Finance/ or Management from a top 25 institutes as per NIRF rankings

Perks & Benefits

Stipend

  • The postgraduate students applying for the internship will receive a fixed stipend of INR 10,000 upon completing the internship. 
  • Ph.D. students will receive a stipend of INR 20,000 per month after they complete the internship. 
  • Ten additional unpaid interns will also be hired by the Ministry of Finance. 

Certificates

A certificate will be issued to the interns when they successfully complete the internship. However, it has been notified that the duration of the internship should be at least 3 months and they should submit their report/ paper/ feedback/ attendance which should be duly certified by the divisional head. In case any of the two criteria are not fulfilled, the candidate will not receive the certificate and other perks.

The application for the internship must be completed by 16th June 2022 as it is the last day for submission of applications. Follow the steps given below to successfully fill-up the application form.

  1. Go to the official website of the Ministry of Finance on a laptop or tablet. 
  2. On the home page, click on "Internship Scheme of the Department Of Economic Affairs for the year 2022-23".
  3. Enter the personal, professional, and academic credentials and click on submit.

Shortlisting of candidates will be done based on their previous academic records and the strength of the application. A committee of senior Department of Economic Affairs officials will be in charge of the selection of candidates.
