Mumbai University has allowed its affiliated colleges to reopen from 16 February 2021 except the ones located in the Mumbai city and suburbs. Earlier the university had decided not to open the colleges for physical classes before 22 February 2021. But a new circular was released afterward.
Some days back, Higher and Technical Education Minister of Maharashtra, Uday Samant had said that the colleges in the state would reopen with 50% capacity and considering the current scenario, the rule of minimum attendance of 75% will be waived off this year. He had also said in a tweet that the colleges will start as per the guidelines of the University Grants Commission (UGC). It was also announced that the state government of Maharashtra will issue separate COVID 19 guidelines for the reopening of colleges and universities across the state.
