OPTCL Recruitment 2023: 50 Vacancies Out For Management Trainees

The Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited (OPTCL) is inviting applications for the post of management trainee in the electrical discipline. It currently has 50 vacancies for electrical trainees, of which 17 are for women.

OPTCL is a state-owned power utility in Odisha engaged in electricity transmission. OPTCL operates in the entire state with around 2626 regular manpower and a vast and robust transmission network of 192 sub-stations. The corporation has a vision to emerge as one of the country’s leading power utilities in the transmission space. At present, its asset value stands at INR 8,740 crore. It has plans to expand and adopt newer and greener technologies.

OPTCL: Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates aged between 21 to 32 years can apply for the post, provided they’ve qualified the GATE 2023 exam, conducted by IITs. Candidates need to mention their scores out of 100 in GATE 2023 while applying. Listed below are the additional, requisite educational qualifications:

OTPCL also offers age relaxation of 5 years for female candidates, ex-servicemen, as well as those belonging to SC/ST or SEBC categories.  Persons with benchmark disabilities receive an age relaxation of 10 years. All relaxations are subject to the submission of appropriate certificates from the competent authorities. 

OPTCL: Selection Process & Remuneration

There are two parts of the selection process - marks obtained in the Electrical Engineering discipline paper of GATE 2023 and personal interview. Scores obtained in GATE 2023 hold 90% weightage, while the remaining 10% is attributed to personal interview. 

Candidates are short-listed category-wise for personal interview on the basis of their marks scored out of 100 in GATE 2023. Shortlisted candidates can download their interview call letter through the candidate login.

Selected candidates can be posted at any of the existing/future units of OPTCL throughout Odisha and outside and have to undergo training for a period of one year at OTPCL’s field units. 

During the one-year training period, management trainees will receive a stipend of INR 50,000. 

On successful completion of training, the candidates will be absorbed as Assistant Manager (Electrical) in level EE-2 on the pay scale of INR 56,100- INR 1,77,500. The CTC per annum for the post of Assistant Manager would be INR 12 lakh (approximately).

OPTCL: Application Process

Online applications for the post opened on April 17, 2023, and the last date for application is May 16, 2023. Listed below is the application process: 

• All interested candidates have to register on the OPTCL website with their GATE 2023 registration number and other required information.
• Post registration, candidates have to fill the application form online. Candidates need to upload the scanned copy of the following documents while filling the form: 
• Recent colour passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format (.jpg/.jpeg)
• Photograph 25KB to 50KB 3.5 cm X 4.5cm
• Signature 25KB to 35 KB 3.5 cm X 1.5cm
• Document in support of date of Birth (DOB) /10th Pass Certificate.
• Essential Qualification Pass Certificate. (Degree Certificate).
• GATE Score Card - GATE 2023 (Color scanned copy).
• Odia Pass Certificate.
• After filling the form online, candidates need to submit the application fee. The application fee for UR and SEBC category is INR 1,180 (inclusive of INR 180 as GST) and for SC/ST category, it’s INR 590 (inclusive of INR 90 as GST). 
• Upon completion, the candidate should submit the online application by clicking the Submit button at the bottom of the page. Once accepted, the system will generate a unique OPTCL Application Number which shall appear in the completed application form.
• The primary email ID entered by the candidate is the Login ID and the unique Application Number generated is the password for logging in to the OPTCL Online application system.
• Candidates are required to take a printout of the finally submitted Online Application form for future use.

Last Date To Apply And Direct Application Link

The last date to apply for the post of management trainee (electrical) with Odisha Power Transmission Corporation Limited is May 16, 2023. 

Selected candidates will also be required to execute a service bond in prescribed format to successfully complete the training period and thereafter serve the organization for at least three years. The amount of the bond is INR 3,00,000 plus GST as applicable for all category of candidates.
