“Opportunities are like sunrises. If you wait too long, you miss them.”
In the spirit of offering the throngs of talent in India a sunrise, Optum, a unit of the UnitedHealth Group, conducted Optum Startethon Season 4. This was a case study competition that offered E-School and B-School students from select institutions across the nation an opportunity to showcase their talent and explore their interest in the healthcare industry.
The competition garnered 19,111 registrations and 9,85,221 impressions across two tracks, namely, the E-Track and B-Track. It won’t be wrong to say that the initiative was a magnanimous success where innovative thinking met the desire to make an impact in the health care sector world over.

Optum Stratethon Season 4- Steps To Success
The structure of the competition was well thought out, keeping all the details in mind. There were different rounds for each of the two tracks, meant to bring out the best in both engineering as well MBA students. Here is a snapshot of the rounds:

All participating teams soared through the exciting rounds with panache and excelled in all the challenges thrown their way. In the end, 10 teams were left to battle it out in the Finale that was conducted in Bangalore. The jury and final teams had a gala time sharing their ideas and engaging in the Q&A round.

The Esteemed Grand Finale Jury
The jury panel at the grand finale consisted of the Leaders from Optum. This included Abhishek Kumar, VP, General Management; Aimee Cardwell, CISO; Ashley Phinney, Senior Director, Technology; Ashutosh Singh, VP, Software Engineering; Cathay Goodman, VP, Global TA, and Talent Marketplace/ Mobility.

Optum Startethon Season 4: The Conquerers
All teams that reached the grand finale had 8 minutes to present their solutions in front of the jury panel, followed by a Q&A session. The hard work put in by the teams culminated in the winner announcements. In the E-Track, Team ByteMagic from VIT Vellore, consisting of Joyeeta Dey, and Apoorv Singh Chauhan, swooped away the winner trophy along with a cash prize of USD 6700.
The runners-up for E-Track were also from VIT Vellore, with Arpan Ghosh, and Jyotika Jaiswal comprising Team Optumizers who won a cash prize of USD 3000.
In the B-Track, Team NA^2 from IIM Kozhikode lifted the winner trophy along with the cash prize. The runner-up title and the prize of USD 3000 were shared by two teams, namely, Team Buccaneers from SCMHRD Pune, and Team The Hustlers from IIM Ahemdabad.
The enlightening session with Neha Contractor, Head, Talent Marketing APAC; Phil McKoy, CIO; and Sandeep Dadlani, EVP, Chief Digital & Technology Officer, UnitedHealth Group, added to the glitz and glamour of Optum Stratethon Season 4, the grand finale. The competition brought together the best minds in the industry, gave upcoming talent a stage to learn and grow, and set expectations high for a brighter future.
