FMCG giant Procter & Gamble has announced the appointment of its new CEO in India on Tuesday, 19 April 2022. The new CEO, L. V. Vaidyanathan will be taking up the reins of P&G India from Madhusudan Gopalan from 1 July 2022.
V. Vaidyanathan currently heads P&G's business in Indonesia and acts as the company's CEO. While announcing his appointment, company sources said the Vaidyanathan has been "responsible for industry-leading growth and value creation for the company" in Indonesia.
An engineering grad from NIT Nagpur, L. V. Vaidyanathan completed his MBA from IIM Ahmedabad in 1996.
Introducing L. V. Vaidyanathan
The most remarkable thing about L. V. Vaidyanathan is his long-lasting bond with P&G.
He had joined the company back in 1995 as an intern and climbed up the ladder to hold several top positions in the company. Becoming the CEO of the company in his own country will add a new feather to the veterans' cap.
Having worked for 26 years across different segments in P&G as well as in different parts of South Asia, including countries like Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, and Vietnam, Vaidyanathan is a well-known face of the company.
“He is an outstanding leader, and the India business will immensely benefit from his leadership and skills which have led to the strong growth of the different businesses that he has led across Southeast Asia. The moves for both Madhusudan and LV are testament to the strength of Indian talent and India's importance as a talent factory for P&G globally," P&G president of Asia, South Africa, and Middle East Magesvaran Suranjan said.
Achievements At P&G
Having been associated with the company for over 25 years, Vaidyanathan is known for his advocacy of multiple critical issues towards shaping the work culture at P&G.

According to sources inside the company, Vaidyanathan has been passionately advocating equality and inclusion at P&G. Under his leadership, the company has made provision for 50 percent representation of women in top roles.
Announcing his appointment, P&G noted in a statement that Vaidyanathan has been instrumental in ensuring that the company's operations in Indonesia remain sustainable from the point of view of environment.
Furthermore, in Indonesia, all of P&G's manufacturing sites have gone from zero manufacturing waste to landfills. Furthermore, the company is working with multiple stakeholders in order to develop technology that can accelerate the creation of a circular economy.
"Under his leadership, the Indonesian business has transformed to become value accretive for the parent company and has overtaken a formidable competitor in the market by turning around the share gap in the last four years", P&G India added.
V. Vaidyanathan has also served as the chairman of the US ASEAN Business Council (Indonesia Chapter).
