I knew that we had a good presentation but winning the competition in Asia across 30 schools and 10,000 teams is indeed very exciting!

There are many b-school challenges held every year, however, this competition conducted by the e-commerce giant Amazon attracted me more. I knew that this was the best challenge in Asia and I wanted to prove my mettle by participating in this competition.

The most challenging part was managing academics with the competition but by God's grace, we managed to do it. I would like to extend special thanks to my college, colleagues, and folks at Amazon for accommodating as much as possible.

The secret to our winning can be accredited to the various practices that we have adopted, the debate is one such practice. We extensively debated within our team. All those debates helped us answer the questions as raised by the judges.

Another best thing which helped was to sail through the entire course of the competition was our team consisting of Dharmesh Shah, Saurabh Mhatre and myself. We had the right diversity to bring in different perspectives. These perspectives helped us to introspect and further develop the Consumer Business Strategy we were working upon. As a team, we were comfortable with each other and since we were already debating amongst ourselves which nullified the untowardness of having strong internal disagreements. This was indeed a good sign of our mental maturity and we did a very good job as a team.

All top finalists had put a tough fight to win the game, however, in my opinion, IIM Ranchi Team did a great job.

Though the framework of the Amazon ACE Challenge was simple, however, the judging was very rigorous. The Jury panel was very vigilant to every small detail and was driven by a strong motivation only to find the best. The judges were highly analytical in their mindset, which makes decision-making more crystal clear.

Every small or big participation enhances our learning, however, in case of the ACE Challenge 2018, it was multiple-fold. I learned the celebrated ‘Amazon way of life’ and knew about the ways and reasons which is responsible for making Amazon as one of the most successful multinational company in the world. These are the learnings that I will cherish forever in this life. It feels great to have participated in this challenge, and the icing on the cake is to be declared as the winner.
