Reliance T.U.P 4.0 Special Awardee IMT Ghaziabad Arpita Patro's Story
Imagine the setting. Runners up are announced at Reliance T.U.P 4.0, you don’t hear your name. They are announcing the winners and still nothing. Your heart is sinking to the pit of your stomach and then goes off a bang! Background music echoes and we hear the name of our team and our college IMT Ghaziabad. Wait why our name? They have already declared all the positions. It took us a moment to put two and two together. We have just received the Special Award from Reliance!

Our hard work finally bore juicy fruits. All those long arguments to make the strategy, presentation, and video better; all those late-night sessions to think about what better can be done so that our pitch would leave an indelible mark on judges' minds were all worth it.

We decided to participate in Reliance T.U.P 4.0 because we got to know from seniors how it not only gives a platform to present your innovative idea but also provides a different level of exposure to industry experts, mentors and a chance to compete with the top minds of India with unique ideas and skill sets. And now we know, all the above points are so true.

When we started working on our idea, there were a number of flaws. Then, we showed our work to our faculties and seniors to get their honest reviews. After that, we brainstormed on how to incorporate those comments to improve our business pitch. This loop continued several times before we prepared the final presentation and video.

Two of the most challenging phases were to convey the significance of our idea in just 3 minutes and to make our prototype which is a risky process without proper machines. My teammate, Bijayeta, was a perfectionist. It was a great experience working with her and I got to learn a lot from her.

I won't say we had conflicts but sometimes we had a difference in opinion over some particular topic. But we solved them by discussing both the views, finding out the pros and cons of each of them and then choosing the best one. The best thing was that we never let our ego hamper the teamwork.

I think the main forte of our team was that we never ignored each other's idea/point of view. No matter how silly one's idea seemed, others always heard it out, questioned it, and evaluated it because you never really know that a silly idea might differentiate you from others.

Other than that, our personalities complemented each other; her focus on making our work perfect and my focus on keeping all the processes smooth and under control created the perfect sync between us. That is the reason no matter how many times our work got rejected, we tried again and again till we perfected it.

There were 22 amazing teams in the grand finale. Each team had its own unique idea and each one of us was prepared for the final face-off. All of us put up a tough fight.

Reliance T.U.P 4.0 gave us a different level of exposure. We met with different industry experts, got to know current market trends and how technology is going to change our future. RIL ensures that the whole process is smooth and handled in the best possible way. I found the judgment to be fair. The panel asked simple yet powerful and logical questions which one generally ignores while preparing for the ultimate pitch.

The whole journey of Reliance T.U.P 4.0 was a continuous learning experience. I learned the power of hard work, being calm, patience, and persistence. Besides content writing, presentation skills, and networking, I learned to lead a winning team with my teammate and seniors by my side.

The organizers were very supportive and helpful. They took care of every process so that we can focus on our preparation. Starting from taking care of our travel, accommodation facilities to showering us with gifts, making the nervous finalists comfortable, ensuring our 2-day experience to be memorable, they did everything perfectly.
