We have participated in other competitions in the past too but couldn’t pass the first hurdle and here we were, the National Finalists of Reliance T.U.P 4.0 of MDI Gurgaon! We could not believe that we were actually going to Mumbai to take part in the Grand Finale!
The entire team carried a seed to start our own venture one day. Reliance T.U.P 4.0 and MBA are just the right sunshine and water need to nurture this seed into an economically viable and socially valuable entity! Without wasting any time, we registered for one of the most prestigious competitions in the Nation - Reliance T.U.P 4.0.
We started brainstorming aggressively and came up with a product which we thought is useful in current times. It hardly took us a week to select the idea, but more than a month to understand how we want it to function. We needed to determine the functional viability, the technical specifications as well as the financial analysis of the entire project. We contacted various people for the same to have a better clarity which ultimately boosted our confidence for our product. This one month was the most challenging as well as the most crucial period for us.
Teamwork was fun. We had great compatibility among us, and we all had late night hunger pangs. There were conflicts from the beginning till the end, especially regarding making the presentation. These issues were generally resolved through proper discussion and a pact that we made- the loser of the argument will have to give the late night treat!
The major forte of our team was the strength to do smart and hard work, coming up with out-of-the-box ideas, along with all three of us being from different backgrounds. This helped us in clarifying various details we used to miss in one go. It made our project fail-safe and better with every go-through.
A total of 5 teams were there in the campus finale. For us, Team SuiT.U.P was our toughest competitor. They had the product of checking the size with the aid of Google Lens. It was a great competition with the main focus on the idea and its execution. There were scores for different aspects too. What they were really looking for was originality of the concept and how it can be executed.
What I got to learn was that today is the age where businesses are not just meant for economic feasibility but also the social viability as well as sustainability. With the advent of digitization, everything is readily available and is easy to duplicate. One must be aware of this and should put their thoughts to not just become an entrepreneur but a 'Social Entrepreneur'.
At the end of the first day of national finals, we were all exhausted and wanted to sleep but Reliance pumped our energy back by providing an open dance floor which was one of the best things. Also, meeting with such high dignitaries of Reliance was truly a dream come true for an MBA graduate.
It was a sublime experience, especially the Grand Finale. Everything was perfect- be it the technology that we saw or the gesture with which Reliance welcomed us. They never let our energy go down. Team Reliance helped us in every aspect making it one of the best competitions I have participated in.
