The feeling on bagging the 2nd Runners Up position for a National Level competition was that of sheer delight! RIVIGO Nexus 2018 gave us a National Level position. And we became more curious to know the solution of the winner just to understand what else we could have done. These competitions are after all a great opportunity to learn from others.
I am an operation enthusiast and hence, wasn't initially interested in this competition but my friends convinced me to take part in it which eventually turned out to be one of the best decisions. The night outs we had would be the memories we will cherish for a long time.
Preparation involved a series of brainstorming sessions, interacting with various industry leaders, referring numerous articles and getting guidance from our professors. Basically, we worked whenever we could find the time. But during the end, we allocated a definite time to work on our idea. The last few days were the most challenging part was to shortlist and fine tune our approach.
Working with a team is enriching but nothing comes easy. We had numerous conflicts but finally, resolved them by taking time to understand each other's view. I would say we were a well-rounded team. Whenever stuck at a point, someone would take the responsibility of motivating the team and ensuring we are walking on the right path.
There were 11 teams in the finale. We tried to give our best without thinking much on competitor analysis. One major learning was about how to turn an idea on paper into a workable solution. The competition was organized professionally. RIVIGO allocated us mentors and they were helpful and approachable. Our experience was remarkable but it would have been great if we were able to interact with the top management of the organization as well as with the fellow competitors.
