Chinese-Canadian actor Simu Liu- the star of Marvel Cinematic Universe's Sang Chi movies and the first superhero of Asian origin, was fired from his job at Deloitte 10 years ago. The world had almost forgotten about it, and so did his infamous boss who fired him, but the actor made an Instagram post to commemorate the day and thanked his former boss for firing him!
"To Paul Gibbon and the offices of Deloitte Toronto; sincerely, honestly, THANK YOU. You did for me what I never had the courage to do myself; you destroyed a life that I was building for someone else so that I could finally begin to build a life for me," the actor said in the Instagram post.

Even though Simu Liu believes that being fired from a finance and accounting role at Deloitte changed the trajectory of his life, it was not easy to either lose his job or break into Hollywood.
"Ten years ago to the day (12th April), I was led into my managing partner's office at Deloitte and told that they were terminating my employment effective immediately," the actor wrote. "I fought back tears of humiliation, grabbed my things, and never looked back", he added.
After being fired from Deloitte, the actor had thought that his life was over. "Years of schooling, gifted programs, trying to live up to my parents' expectations. It all came crashing down in an instant", Liu recalled.
It was not easy for Liu ever since he lost his job. Life took him on a bumpy ride where he spent four years trying to break into Hollywood. Meanwhile, he ran up credit card debt and made ends meet by working odd jobs.

Everyone knows how difficult it is to break into Hollywood, and when he was burning his precious life savings into what people called a "pipe dream".
"It's really only been these past three years that anything I've done has begun to bear any fruit," the actor reflected.
Earlier, the actor had spoken to Vanity Fair about what made him pursue a career in finance and accounting rather than acting.
"Growing up with my parents and my family, our idea of success was pretty rigid and fairly traditional, and that's what led me to pursue a career initially in finance and accounting," he had said.
To follow one's dreams takes a lot of courage and effort, and one has to go through difficult times to finally reach where one wants to be. As Simu Liu's story indicates, sometimes these decisions happen by chance and not as a choice!
