Before we delve deeper into the application process, it is important to know the difference between Deloitte India and Deloitte US-India (USI). Deloitte US-India is a region within the Deloitte US organization. Deloitte India has clients within India, while Deloitte USI is an entity of Deloitte US that is geographically located in India but caters to clients of the US member firm. The companies hire freshers via off-campus recruitment (or via online applications) and on-campus recruitment modes.
Note: For engineering freshers, Deloitte offers two profiles - Business Technology Analyst and Associate Analyst Trainee. For other job titles, Deloitte generally prefers experienced candidates.
For the above profiles, the eligibility criteria are as follows:
Academic Qualifications
- B.E / B.Tech in any discipline with more than 60% marks in graduation. (CSE/ECE/IT/EEE/TELECOM/M.E/CIVIL -Only full-time courses will be considered)
- MCA graduates are also eligible to apply.
- More than 60% in Class X and Class XII examinations.
Deloitte Recruitment Process: Overview of the Selection Process
After the initial screening, the Deloitte recruitment team invites candidates for the following 3-4 rounds to assess their analytical abilities, logical reasoning skills, coding proficiency, subject knowledge, etc. Refer to the infographic below for a quick overview followed by the details of each round:
1. Online Test
The online test is conducted to test the following:
- Quantitative Aptitude and Logical Reasoning

There is no negative marking in the tests. However, the candidates must cross the cut-off.

2. Communication Round
The candidates' grasp of the English language is assessed in this round. It is a hygiene check over your communication skills and checks your reading, writing, and speaking abilities. The test contains questions on reading comprehension, jumbled sentences, usage of words, story-retelling, etc. The round is generally conducted over a phone call. So it is very important that you settle down in a quiet and peaceful place with a strong phone signal so that there is no distraction at the time of the interview/phone call.
3. Just-A- Minute Round (JAM)/ Group Discussion
The students who are able to pass the online aptitude test of the Deloitte selection process are called for a Group Discussion/ JAM round. In this round, they check your communication and presentation skills. The candidates are divided into groups, and each member has to speak on a topic for one minute.
Deloitte may also provide a case study based on a technical problem faced by an organization. Students have 5 minutes to read it and then discuss it for another 15 minutes. Deloitte moderators could also ask questions based on your solution. Sometimes, they provide you a minute to put your points instead of group discussion.
Points to Remember
- Refine your communication and presentation skills. The panel intends to assess your confidence level and articulation.
- In the case of the JAM session, it is important to structure your speech well (Introduction, main content, conclusion)
- If there is a case study, read the case study carefully and try to understand the objectives.
- Listen to other’s opinions and points and try to build upon their answers. It shows your listening capabilities and your enthusiasm for team work.
4. Deloitte Interview Process
This round is a combination of Technical Interview + HR Round. According to Deloitte’s official site:
- The first interview will generally be a telephonic screening/face-to-face initial interview with a member of the Talent Acquisition team. This is also your opportunity to ask any questions about the role and the firm.
- This is followed by a face-to-face technical, panel, or case study interview with the service line you are applying for. This is an in-depth interview and discussion regarding your technical and motivational fit for the role, team, and firm. The number of interviews varies, although the duration of an interview is not too long and may last a maximum of 30 minutes.
- The final stage will be a meeting with a Partner/Director from the service line you may be joining.
