Round 1: Online Assessment

The first stage of the Morgan Stanley recruitment process is an online test which consists of 2 sections as shown in the table below:

The level of difficulty for this round is easy to moderate and the intent is to get a basic understanding of your subject knowledge, problem-solving skills, and time management abilities. The average time limit for the whole round is 80-90 minutes.

Round 2: Programming Round

Once you clear the preliminary online assessment, you will be required to appear for the next round of the Morgan Stanley recruitment process. That is the programming/ coding round which on average consists of 4 to 5 questions to test your coding/ programming proficiency. The questions in this section will ideally cover DSA (Data Structures and Algorithms) and OOPs. The duration for this round is between 45- 60 minutes.

Round 3: Technical Interview 1

This is the first-round interview for the Morgan Stanley recruitment process. This round could be a telephone interview or be conducted virtually through video conferencing, or might happen on campus. In this round, the interviewer will ask technical questions to assess your technical knowledge across important CS topics including (but not limited to) programming languages, algorithms, data structures, databases, OOPs, etc. The duration for this round is between 30-40 minutes.  

Round 4: Group Activity

After you clear the first-round interview, the next step of the Morgan Stanley recruitment process is a group activity. This round will most likely happen only when multiple applicants are shortlisted for the selection process. In this round, the interviewees are split into groups and then assigned tasks to complete as a team. Some examples of these tasks are- deriving a story from a picture, building something out of Legos, etc. The recruiter's primary focus here is to assess your teamwork, initiative, collaboration skills, etc.

Round 5: Technical Interview 2

This is one of the final-round interviews for the Morgan Stanley recruitment process and its duration is 30-40 minutes. Since this is the second technical interview, it will naturally be more advanced and hence more difficult to crack in comparison to the initial interview. The interviewer will want to assess your domain expertise and deep knowledge of core CS topics and tech stack relevant to the profile.

Some common topics covered in this round are system design, computer networks, DBMS, language-specific coding solutions, etc. in addition to the topics from the previous round. In addition to this, the interview might also ask questions on past projects, academic achievements, and internship experiences you have mentioned in your resume. So prepare accordingly.

Round 6: Managerial + HR Interview

• Confidence is key to cracking any interview rounds you appear for. If you don't seem confident enough in your skills and believe in yourself, there is not much you can do to convince the interviewer otherwise.
• If at any point during the interview, you feel like you need additional information to solve a problem, directly ask the interviewer. This will help you avoid making silly mistakes and reach the correct answer in the end. 
• It is possible that you might not be familiar with the application of all topics in the technical interview round. If this happens, it is best to be upfront and inform the interviewer about the same rather than lying and trying to cover up later.
• Another way to handle the questions that you don't know the answer to is to let the interviewer know that you are eager to learn and will work on the topics you aren't experienced in.
