Details of the Facebook Recruitment Process

The recruitment/ hiring process at Facebook can take anywhere between 4 weeks to 8 weeks. At the end of which, if your performance satisfies the recruiter you get an offer letter. In this section, we will discuss the details of all the rounds that make up the Facebook recruitment process.

Facebook recruitment process- details

Round 1: Resume Submission and Screening

The first step of applying for the Facebook recruitment process is to submit your resume either to the recruiter or on the careers page. Once that is done the recruiting team will screen your resume and get back to you. This might take anywhere between 2-4 weeks, so be patient.

Also for those sending out cover letters along with their resumes, note that Facebook lays primary importance on the resume. But if you still wish to send a cover letter out, make it short (a few paragraphs) and crisp.

Round 2: Phone/ Video Interview (1-2 rounds)

If the hiring manager finds your resume to be suitable, you will move on to the interview process stage. Someone from the team will get in touch with you to discuss the job role they find you suitable for, and also what it's like to work at Facebook (Meta) i.e. discuss company culture, core values, etc. There might be 1-2 phone/ video interviews where you might interact with the team/ product managers, etc in addition to hiring manager.

One of the primary focuses of these interviews will be to see if you are a culture fit for Facebook. The interviewer will ask you behavioral questions while also discussing your past experiences and capabilities. Your interview performance will then determine if you move on to the next stage in the interview process.

Round 3: Onsite Interview Rounds (4-6 rounds)

Once you pass the cultural fit Interview (other phone interviews) you will have to go through 4-6 in-person interviews. There are three types of interviews that are a part of this round, which are-

  • Coding interview (technical interview)- Here you will be solving multiple coding questions/ technical questions which may vary from whiteboarding solutions, and pure coding questions, to domain-specific technical questions.
  • Design interview- The interviewer will ask design questions relating to two segments, i.e. system design and product design. The intent of this section is to ascertain the candidate's ability to find, and the thought process behind reaching a solution that might not necessarily be engineering related.
  • Behavioral interview- The purpose of this interview type is to evaluate your personality and behavior. The behavioral questions will be related to the candidate's personal values, personal & professional history, aspirations, etc. The intent is to see how well will you work with the team and the whole of Facebook (Meta).

During the onsite interview round, you will interact with potential teammates, cross-functional partners, managers, etc. The interview panel will award you a score for every interview that you go through which will help determine whether you will get the job or not.

Round 4: Pass the hiring committee reviews and get the offer

After all the interview rounds are done, all the information is passed on to a hiring committee comprising third-party Facebook employees for the candidate review. This committee takes all factors into consideration and prepares a feedback brief for every candidate. A recruiter then gets in touch with the candidate to discuss the feedback and the next steps.

If you get the job, you will be provided with a job offer. At this stage, you have time to carry on salary negotiations or salary discussions and consider the offer. Once you accept, you are officially a part of Facebook.

About Facebook

Founder Mark Zuckerberg and co-founder Eduardo Saverin along with collegemates/ roommates Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes established Facebook in 2004. The social networking site was originally intended to exist only for Harvard students, but it soon expanded to numerous North American universities. And finally, by 2006, everyone and anyone above 13 years of age had access to the site.

Over time, the website evolved into one of the most popular social networking and social media websites known today. It has countless features that keep its users engaged and happy, such as Facebook Watch, Facebook Portal, Facebook Messenger, etc. Facebook is presently owned by Meta Platforms, Inc. Its headquarters are in Silicon Valley, more precisely in Menlo Park, California. With the kind of history behind the company, it is not surprising that the Facebook recruitment process is elaborate and takes multiple aspects in regard to the candidate into consideration.
