Imagine the setting. Victorious music playing, the crowd cheering and an announcement is made, the team "Chasing Failure" is the National Finalist of TATA Steel-a-thon 2018. Wake me up from the dream. Oh, wait! It’s not a dream. We are actually going to the National Finals. It was a proud moment, more so because all the other teams were from the second year and our team was the only first-year team. We had tasted blood right in our first year and this meant that we had to outdo ourselves in the coming year! It is a challenge that my team and I were more than willing to take on.
TATA Steel-a-thon 2018 gave us the opportunity to work on real-life business challenges that are faced by the company. We also got a chance to interact with the senior leadership of TATA Steel. The interaction was really healthy and enriching.
Working for this competition was difficult. We had academic pressure and along with that, working on such big an opportunity was a challenge. But we worked that out by fixing our time slots when every team member was available and we dedicated that time slot to work only on the competition. We worked late nights on weekends. From the date when the case was uploaded till the national finale, we made it our task to further improve the quality of our submission.
Conflicts are inevitable in a team but in great teams, they become productive. We always had conflicts regarding every topic but in return, it fine-tuned our result. We did everything that was demanded by the time. Every member contributed in every way they could.
Overall, the competition was amazing. The judgment was undoubtedly the best. The organizers ensured that we have a smooth journey throughout the competition. We had an experience of a lifetime.
