The essence of team work in becoming the Runners up of _VOIS Vantage 2020 -By Siddharth Sharma from IMT Ghaziabad

I was exhilarated on being declared as the Runners Up (2nd Year Track) of _VOIS Vantage 2020! The entire 50-day journey was what we cherished as a team. Being rewarded and recognized for it was definitely like adding another feather to the cap. Here is an excerpt from my journey filled with learnings, joys, and hard work.

Vodafone Group is synonymous with its values of speed, simplicity, and trust. It resonated well with all four of us on an individual level. Personally, for me, since I come from an engineering background, my interest in technology-driven businesses, and the case based on TechComm Consulting, compelled me to participate in _VOIS Vantage 2020.

The odyssey of _VOIS Vantage 2020

_VOIS Vantage 2020 was extremely well organized, with all the teams presenting their solutions before senior leadership at semi-finale and finale, it was a journey filled with learning. Each team in the finale was allotted a coach. The coaches themselves were distinguished senior leaders from _VOIS. Each of the semi-finalists had been sent a bag of goodies from _VOIS as a token of appreciation. For a special mention, a day before the finale, I had some health issues. After my team informed the organizing committee, it was very well taken care of, and the committee and jury were very motivating throughout the day's affair.

To beat the competitors and give our best shot at _VOIS Vantage 2020 we read the case over and over again. Each of us welcomed each other's thought processes, and that opened communication between us slowly, helping us to set up a base. We did not rush to the solution. Most importantly, we reached out to our seniors and some professionals in the industry to finally come to the solution. Before the final round, we were very fortunate to get valuable insights into improving our solution from a very senior leader from _VOIS which definitely gave us a big boost.

A functioning as smooth as silk!

Fortunately or unfortunately enough, throughout the duration of _VOIS Vantage 2020, we did not have any conflict. Possibly, it was due to the accommodating nature of each one of us. We never considered ourselves as individuals in the team. It was a combined effort. Our team mantra "The force is strong with this one" exactly summarises it all.

People think that not being on campus and still being able to work with the team must have its own challenges but on the contrary, had we been on campus, we would have ignored how convenient meeting on either Teams or Hangouts would have been. The "Let's meet together" got a lot simpler because of it and work became easier for us. To break the monotony of work, we would indulge ourselves in casual chit chats or reminiscence about life at IMT before getting back to work again. Also, most importantly since all four of us were internally driven, we worked when we worked. So, overall this helped.

To sum up, I would suggest all the upcoming MBA aspirants to never underestimate the Importance of collaboration and a combined team effort!
