Threads Trends On Twitter: 19 Of The Funniest Tweets On Instagram’s New App
Meta’s latest offering, the text-based conversation app Threads launched today. The app can be downloaded via Apple Store and Android Play Store. However, it’s yet to launch in the EU.
The app, which is seeing hundreds of users sign up every hour, is being called an alternative to the popular microblogging platform, Twitter. Both Twitter and Threads have several similarities - including the fact that both have billionaire owners who recently talked about engaging in a cage fight (you can’t make this up!).
Now, no one can know for sure if the cage fight was simply a marketing tactic to herald this battle of apps or something else. However, what’s truly ironic is that Threads is currently the top-most trending item on Twitter. Take a look at Twitterati’s take on ‘threading’:
Threads Trends On Twitter
The hashtags #Threads and #ThreadsApps are the top most trending item on Indian Twitter today, with over a million tweets. Here’s a look at some of the funniest tweets on Threads:
The rise of social media apps
Threads is yet another social media app, among the many that exist already. And yet, people rushed to sign up. As per reports, 5 million people joined Threads in just 4 hours of its launch. This is what people had to say about it:

Threads by Instagram: Changing The Game?
Though Threads is similar to Twitter in many ways, the app also has certain differences - primarily in terms of the character limit and admissible video limit. Currently, Threads does not have a desktop version.
However, Threads can be a game-changer. Though critics believe that the app could go the way of Clubhouse (the audio-based social app that rose to popularity during the pandemic-induced lockdown), there is no denying the fact that Twitter has lost its popularity.
Moreover, Threads is accessible via Instagram. And Instagram already enjoys a strong base of over 2 billion users. Even if 25% of these Instagram users hop on Threads, it could rival Twitter’s 400 million user base.
Ultimately, all these numbers are just an indication. Only time will tell if Threads becomes a better version of Twitter, goes the Tumblr way, or adopts a whole new space in the digital arena.
