The entire process of YES Future Ready Scholarship was exceptional. The event conducted at their Mumbai HQ office was extremely enriching. There were multiple sessions, fireside chats, and interactions that allowed me to network with the other Yes Future Ready Scholars. They all were incredibly bright and from diverse backgrounds.

The three-tier framing

There were three rounds. The first one was CV shortlisting, the second round was a general aptitude test, and the third one was an essay and a personal interview round. For the third round, I had to write an essay on Career in Banking. But since it was not a traditional competition, there were no competitors as such.

Buckling down to the winner's list

It was the first time I was exposed to this domain. I revised the Economics and Finance courses that we had in SPJIMR and also kept myself up-to-date with the recent happenings in this domain. I also consulted with my brother a lot - his expertise as a Chartered Accountant was invaluable. Coming from a computer engineering background, I had a technology lens for everything that I learned, which was useful for a tech-based bank like YES Bank. One other student from my batch had made it to the final interview; however, I was hoping both of us would be selected as Yes Future Ready Scholars.

Dedicated learning of the Banking domain

It was the first time I learned about banking as a domain, and it was highly insightful to have the leading practitioners from the business talk in detail about what it takes for a bank to provide its innumerable essential services to the public. I also gained knowledge about the technology stack that banks use and understood Open Banking in greater detail.

YES Bank Future Ready Scholarship was indeed a beautiful journey. There is nothing more satisfying than making your parents proud, and seeing them there was one of the most special moments of my two-year stint at SPJIMR!
