For UPPSC 2020 Topper Sanchita Sharma, the final goal is yet not achieved. After appearing thrice for UPSC but not succeeding in clearing the interview round, she secured Rank 1 in UPPSC 2020. But her dream of clearing UPSC still shines as bright as it did earlier.
A Chemical Engineering graduate and an MBA, Sanchita has always been passionate about getting into public administration to bring real changes in society for the benefit of the common people.
Who backed her throughout the journey?
With a strong determination and conviction for civil services, Sanchita got selected in Jamia Millia Islamia's Residential Coaching center (RCA) in 2018 which provides excellent coaching for civil services to students belonging from minority, other backward classes and women entirely free of cost. She had received complete guidance throughout from them. And there is no doubt that the prestigious RCA is making a high record of its students cracking the tough civil examination every year.
What was Sanchita’s Preparation Strategy?
Sanchita believes more in practice than predicting the exam. Since the UPPSC pattern is almost similar to that of UPSC, she referred to standard books of UPSC. She chose Chemistry as her optional subject and made sure to work upon all previous year question papers from 2018 onwards thoroughly and stick to the keywords of the syllabus.
She focused more on writing effective answers. And for this, she implemented some key strategies like:
- Curate the answers by highlighting the current events.
- Write innovative more than theoretically.
- Interpret the questions wisely.
- Structure the content in mind before penning it down.
- Make answers more inclusive of examples.
- Give an exhaustive way forward conclusion.
She always studied as per the requirements. For the prelims, she focused more on factual knowledge rather than cramming; and for mains it was more expression of thoughts. She went for in-depth knowledge of a single topic through various mediums like VissionIAS and Youtube videos. So, her core strategy revolved around hard and smart work.
Several unsuccessful attempts in various exams apart from UPSC and UPPSC did not leave Sanchita disappointed. She has always been motivated by her failures to appear again for the same exams. Dealing with failures with a positive attitude and staying focus has always been her key to success. And now again, she is all set to make an unusual courageous decision to reappear for a highly challenging exam.
