Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final result for UPSC Engineering Services (Main) Examination (IES/ESE) 2020 on its official website. 302 candidates have been selected after clearing the final round.

The selected candidates will be appointed strictly in accordance with the extant rules and the number of vacancies available. Allotments will be made according to ranks obtained and preference of Services expressed by the candidates for the various Posts/ Services. The UPSC ESE/ISE was held in October 2020 and the interviews for Personality Test were held from March to April, 2021.

About UPSC IES Exam

IES/ESE recruitment exam is English medium exam that is conducted through three stages – Preliminary, Mains and Personal Interview round. The Preliminary Exam has two objective papers whereas the Main exam has two conventional papers. ESE Prelims Paper one is common for every student while Paper two is the candidate's opted engineering discipline amongst Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical and Electronics and Telecommunication engineering. 

For every wrong answer, one-third of marks are deducted in the Prelims. Candidates must obtain more marks than specified in ESE cut off in each exam to qualify for the next stage. Candidates’ scores in the Preliminary exam, main exam, and interview round together determine ESE Final Merit List.
