“Without requirements or design, programming is the art of adding bugs to an empty text file.” - Louis Srygley

And I wished to be the Master of this Art!

The opportunity to bring my dream into reality came with Myntra hacker-ramp WeForShe 2021, a competition especially designed for women coders to test their skills in solving real-world problems. My team Hack Elite took part in this competition to let our codes style the fashionista brand.

Myntra hacker-ramp WeForShe Stages

This national-level hackathon commenced with four phases of evaluation:

  • Ideation phase
  • Implementation phase
  • Pre-final phase
  • Final phase

The most challenging phase we faced initially was we didn't have a clear picture about how we wanted to go with the problem statement but things eventually started making sense as we started applying proper research techniques to get a feasible solution. With this, we worked on the solution for around one month and eventually started the implementation of our idea side by side to save our time as we were focused more on accomplishing short-term goals to achieve the big milestone.

Turning opportunities into wins!

From acing the preparation strategy to overcoming the challenges, team Hack Elite aced it all. We were prepared well enough to reach this winning destination because of our pre-planned preparation strategy. From the beginning, we focused more on identifying and understanding the business problem and for this, we planned the survey study. And also started reading research papers to look around the existing work that had been done to align our thinking process in that direction.

Welcoming Conflicts

Resolving team conflicts was another major challenge for us as most of the time, we faced a conflict of opinions. For this, we approached smartly, by examining each other's opinions thoroughly and coming up with the pros and cons of every viewpoint to come to a common ground for the conclusion. Hence, all these efforts paid off when we won the crown of second place in presenting the best solution to the esteemed judges.

During the journey we learned a lot of new technologies and made us appreciative of the work that had already been done in that area.
