Here's How Nestlé Set The Stage For The Upcoming MBA Cohort!
Nestlé came up with a one-of-a-kind campus engagement activity for the upcoming cohorts of the full-time 2-year MBA program: Nestlé Leaders League - Genesis. The event was a resounding success, leaving a lasting impact on all who attended. Designed to empower the next generation of business leaders, this exclusive initiative truly delivered on its promise, setting the stage for remarkable careers.
From the moment participants arrived, the energy was palpable. Aspiring business leaders from various backgrounds came together, ready to seize the opportunities that lay ahead. The atmosphere was charged with anticipation and excitement as attendees geared up for a day filled with learning, networking, and growth.
The day started with networking sessions where bright minds connected with industry veterans and inspiring alumni.
Strong bonds were formed, with connections that will undoubtedly last beyond the B-school years.
Engaging and intellectually stimulating activities fostered a sense of camaraderie. The enthusiasm and determination on display were truly inspiring.
Participants vied for scholarships that would pave the way for their B-School dreams. Four outstanding NLL scholars received PPIs, dedicated mentors for 2 years, and a scholarship of INR 1 Lakh each, recognizing their potential and unwavering spirit. Additionally, four students were named #BeAForceForGood Ambassadors, earning PPIs, cash prizes, and the opportunity to inspire their peers.
The NLL Scholars included Kajal Agarwal from IIM Kozhikode, Udita Singh from SPJIMR Mumbai, and Vedant Munjal and Yashswini Kabra from XLRI Jamshedpur. The Ambassadors were Arihant Jain from XLRI Jamshedpur, Ishika Jain from IIM Calcutta, and Neerav Bothra and Taruni Singhal from IIM Lucknow.
The Battle Of The Brightest
The competition began with over 5,000 hopefuls, but only 48 advanced to the Nestlé Leaders League - Genesis national stage. From this elite group, 20 competed for the #BeAForceForGood Ambassadors title. The competition was fierce and difficult to judge head-on!
Talking about the strategy to fight this fierce competition, Yashswini Kabra shared, “The strategy to develop a compelling marketing campaign with minimal expenditure and present within 40 minutes involved teamwork. We brainstormed for 20 minutes and created the presentation in the remaining time. Though we initially struggled to come up with a strong campaign on a tight budget, we realized that any idea could work if executed well."
She added, “Embracing this, we quickly brainstormed a simple idea and developed it effectively. In 10 minutes, we generated ideas, spent 15 minutes building the campaign, and used the final 15 minutes to refine our presentation. Two members focused on improvements, one sourced graphics, and one created the PowerPoint. We rehearsed our parts in the last two minutes, and our preparation paid off as the panel appreciated our presentation.”
Vedant Munjal shared his experience, stating, "During the assessment, the key was to balance time limitation and accuracy to finish the tasks to the best extent possible. In the case competition, we were tasked to make KitKat the most chill break partner on campus. So, we focussed on analysing college life over a year to search for opportunities where KitKat can create brand value and capture value over the years. Exploring untraditional engagement techniques to create lasting brand recall was definitely a challenge.”
He continued, “In round 3, we were tasked to create an advertisement campaign on Instagram reels. Focussed on virality and network effects, keeping in mind key brand associations of KitKat, like sharing and taking a break. The key challenge was driving virality in a short video format without diluting brand messaging. This was followed by an interview where we discussed the marketing engagement.”
The "Good Food, Good Life" Experience
Attendees were immersed in the Nestlé world, experiencing firsthand the company’s commitment to excellence and positive impact. This wasn’t just a learning opportunity but a celebration of Nestlé's values and mission, reinforcing the importance of creating a positive impact through business.
Arihant Jain appreciated the event's structure, saying, “I loved the framing of the competition and the judgment criteria. I appreciate that this competition did not consider our previous academic record; instead, it judged us on the merit of what we brought to the table today.”
Udita Singh also reflected on her journey, “Experiences are premium for a reason, and creativity blooms from perception.”
Resonating with her, Kajal Agarwal said, “My biggest learning would be that with 100% focus and dedication, the hardest of battles can be won and, in this case, one of the most difficult competitions in the corporate world!”
Legendary Moments In The Making
Nestlé Leaders League Genesis was not just an event but the beginning of a new chapter for all participants. With newfound knowledge, connections, opportunities, and unforgettable memories, these aspiring business leaders are now equipped to kickstart their careers.
Reflecting on a standout moment, Neerav Bothra shared, “Picking a favourite moment from the competition is like choosing a favourite song on a killer playlist – it's tough! The whole experience – meeting new people and brainstorming ideas – was a blast. But one moment really stands out. When I explained my solution to the judges, they were curious about the structure. They asked, "How long did it take you to put this together?" Knowing I'd only had a few hours to brainstorm, design, draft, and submit everything, their question felt like a huge compliment. It was a great reminder that sometimes, quick thinking and clear communication can be just as impressive as months of prep.”
Sharing one of her fond memories, Ishika Jain said, “The mix of nerves and anticipation during the final presentations at Nestle HQ was an interesting combination. While competitive, at the core of it, it was supportive people trying to pitch the best gateway to a more positive impact. I remember being asked one question after my presentation, "Wouldn't everyone do it? Wouldn't that become a hassle?" it was simple: Nestle could be the first. It became about the feeling that my idea had the potential to create real change. That solidified my passion for using my skills for social good and showed me the power that impactful ideas can have.”
Nestlé Leaders League Genesis left a lasting impact, creating not just professional opportunities but also cherished memories that will inspire and motivate these future leaders as they take on the reigns of their careers.
