Enriching Experience of ABG Stratos 2018's National Finalist

It was a matter of great privilege for me to know that our hard work has finally paid off as we were declared the campus winners of Aditya Birla Group’s Stratos 2018.

I got really positive reviews about this competition from my seniors and colleagues about how enriching the learning experience of this competition can be and I can sincerely vouchsafe that I had made a good decision for being a part of this competition.

Stratos 2018 unfurled itself with a Business Simulation Game, which was fun to participate in. It tested our decision-making skills and we successfully passed the test. It was all very fun-filled and challenging at the same time. The most challenging part of the competition was the case study solution. Since it required in-depth knowledge of the industry and the company that we were working on. Frankly speaking, we didn't even realize how long we had been working. We got to learn a lot from the research but there might have been some loopholes and some information that we didn't have access to.

Since it was team participation, working with the team invoked a stronger bond between the three of us as we started to understand each other better. Though there were varied conflicts within the team, however, we managed to resolve them through our accommodating behavior and pure understanding.

The best part of our team was that everyone had specialized knowledge in some domain. One of us was very good in financial aspects while others contributed to the marketing plan and the feasibility of the entire idea respectively. Division of work enabled us to make the best use of the limited time that we had and come up with a better presentation.

Our presentation made it to the finale and we were invited to attend the event in Mumbai. There were about 9 more teams who were ready to fight this last battle for winning the Stratos 2018 trophy. Though all the participating teams had given their best, I really like the ideas and presentation of ISB Hyderabad which was undoubtedly the best and more than the competition it gave us the inspiration to be that better.

The entire setup was really good. With the best people to judge the competition, it was a great learning experience for all of us. The insights provided by the judges opened us to new business perspectives which will be beneficial for us in the longer run.

Other than concepts, I have also learned the importance of teamwork and cohesion. Another understanding that I got through this competition was that more than the idea, it is the feasibility and applicability of that idea that makes it pertinent and which also true from the business point of view.

Aditya Birla Group’s Stratos 2018 was truly an experience of its kind. It brought a fresh surge of inspiration to attain great heights.
