NMIMS Mumbai Team PROactivators Shines At Wipro B-Pro 2.0; Lands Second, Wins INR 1,50,000 Cash Prize!
Whenever challenges are thrown across, innovative solutions are found! Hence, to get the young minds to spin out some enterprising ideas, India’s third largest IT company, Wipro, recently conducted the B-School Challenge- B-PRO 2.0. It is one of the biggest platforms that an MBA can ask for to showcase and highlight their skills and get recruited.
With an ambition to put forth our skills, our team from NMIMS Mumbai called the PROactivators consisting of Sanjukta Desai, Argha Das, and Nishant Patil decided to participate in this challenge. It was an absolute delight to be a part of this competition where we got head-to-head with the worthiest opponents and eventually ended up as first runners-up! Here are some exciting moments from the competition that we would like to share with you. But first, let’s give you a quick overview of the competition.
Wipro B-PRO 2.0: Overview
The registration process for B-PRO 2.0 started in July 2022. Being the second season of the competition, there was already a lot of excitement around it.
The competition had several elimination rounds and each round was designed to test strategic thinking, communication, problem-solving skills, and above all innovation. So we had to go through the following rounds:
- Online Quiz: Here all registered teams had to attempt an online quiz with each team member playing individually. Questions were based on Sales & Marketing, Finance, Operations, Human Resources and IT & Analytics.
- Executive Summary Submission Round: Shortlisted teams submitted an executive summary of their proposed solution.
- Detailed Presentation Submission Round: Shortlisted teams had to provide a detailed submission in the form of a 10-slider PPT for their proposed solution.
- Semi-Finale: Based on the submission of the detailed solution, the top qualifying teams presented their detailed solutions to the Jury from Wipro.
- Grand finale: Seven teams made it to the finale. These teams presented their solutions to the esteemed Jury.
Our Strategy: Breaking the problem at a granular level
Since the start of the competition, we could sense the tough competition. Hence, to make our mark, we needed to come up with a concrete and foolproof strategy. The strategy that we followed was to understand the problem statement at a granular level, and thereafter find solutions around the same. So, as the case brought with it different aspects, we tried to cover all of those at a micro level.
However, the journey to finding the most viable solution was not easy. Our initial challenge was to figure out what our data sources would be and find data from those sources to arrive at a tangible insight. Though case facts were adequately provided, data had to be seen from relevant sources for arriving at possible solution sets. The second challenge was to re-examine that every possible solution is provided to the questions asked and thereby ensure that we do not miss out on any aspect. Working all this through, it took us close to 3 weeks to arrive at our final solution!
Accommodating each other's views and working in tandem
Our team dynamics immensely worked in our favor during our journey. We did face conflicts but we resolved them by understanding each one’s thought process and thereby evaluating the pros and cons of each one of our ideas.
We had Argha Das, the futurist and strategy head, who mainly worked on research, both primary and secondary. Sanjukta Desai was the data expert, who also verified the data and strategies for the presentation. Nishant Patil was the tech and marketing stalwart and focused on the eventual solutions and the marketing and sustainable aspects. Hence, our team was a dynamic one with people from different specializations such as general management, sales, and marketing management, in which everyone worked in tandem towards realizing the various problem statement pointers, resolving conflicts, and thus deriving solutions.
A lifetime experience with bountiful learnings
Wipro B PRO 2.0 was all about assessing the teams' agility and learnability. Every stage needed you to learn and unlearn. Apart from learning the value of teamwork and strategizing, B-PRO 2.0 gave us a clear view of how the banking industry works through this B-School competition. We got exposed to various solutions, disruptions, and upcoming technologies that will rule the banking world in near future.
The esteemed panelists were remarkable in the way they examined and checked each and every detail of the submission. Their input helped us learn a lot. Also, our interactions with Wipro Leaders were extremely enriching.
The selection of our team into the national finals of Wipro B-PRO 2.0 and standing second amongst such amazing teams was one of the biggest moments of our lives. This shall always remain special to us.
