All that you need to know about Alpha Search
Portfolio Management refers to the science of analysing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for performing wide range of activities related to one's portfolio for maximizing the return at a given risk. This competition gives one a great opportunity to wear the hat of a portfolio manager and discover your skills/abilities of portfolio management in a virtual money environment.
First Stage:
- This round will be an online quiz.
- This would be an eliminator.
- Teams need to register for this event.
Second Stage:
- Top 15 teams will be shortlisted.
- These teams will be given a list of 10-20 companies and virtual money of 2 lakh.
- Every day teams needs to upload their buy/sell (in terms of number of shares) on a Google form for those 10 companies along with the reason.
- Teams need to invest at least in 3 companies a minimum amount of 20,000.
- The Google form window will open for 3 hours between 10.00 PM to 1.00 A.M. Teams will be communicated the closing balances by 6.00 PM next day.
- Teams will have to choose the stock based on the closing price and other market
- fundamentals
- This event will be 3 day-long event.
- NAV would be calculated based on the closing prices of the day
- All sales and purchases of stocks will happen only on the closing price of the stock
Third stage:
- Top 7 teams will go to round 3. They will be giving a simulated portfolio. Team will be given a "–ve/red" portfolio which they have to turn to "+ve/green". Teams will be given limited number of products to trade but unlimited quantity.
- The trial round will be conducted to help participants get familiar with the trading platform.
- Team which has the highest value or lowest red value will be the winner. In case of tie, portfolio will be evaluated on number of deals, day wise profits and concentration of deals.
Rules and Regulations:
- Competition is open to MBA students.
- Team size is 2 members; members have to be from the same Institute. No individual can participate in more than one team
- Once a team is registered, no change in the team composition will be entertained
- A student can be part of only one team. However, there is no restriction on the number of teams participating from an Institute
Deadlines:
Registration Ends: 09th Jan 2013, 07.00 PM
Round 1: 09th Jan 2013, Quiz will be conducted between 10.00 PM hrs to 10.15 PM hrs.
Round 2: 11th Jan 2013 – 16th Jan 2013
Round 3: 18th Jan 2013 – 24th Jan 2013
