Submission Round (via Unstop)
- Each participant is required to submit a 20 to 30-second video showcasing their boat model in operational condition along with the usage of remote. The dimensions of the boat and the specifications of the motor should be mentioned along with the video.
- Please ensure that the video demonstrates the functionality of the boat within water.
- Video submission is necessary to proceed to the next round of the competition.
Wild Card Submission Round (via Unstop)
- Each participant is required to submit a 20 to 30-second video showcasing their boat model in operational condition along with the usage of remote. The dimensions of the boat and the specifications of the motor should be mentioned along with the video.
- Please ensure that the video demonstrates the functionality of the boat within water.
- Video submission is necessary to proceed to the next round of the competition.
- The teams who didn't get finalized previoudly in round 0(the submission round) can also resubmit their video.
Round 2(Offline)
- There will be a path (with obstacles) made in the Wave Basin with waves of IIT Madras. The boat has to complete the path without hitting any obstacles.
- Each boat will have to traverse through the track which will be given before the competition.
Skipping and hitting of any obstacle will lead to a penalty of 5s. - The top teams with least time taken will be awarded.
- Maximum time limit must not exceed 7 minutes.

Event Overview: Riptide – RC Boat Racing Challenge
Objective:
A competitive RC boat racing event where teams design, control, and maneuver RC boats to navigate an obstacle-filled course in a wave basin, aiming for the fastest time with minimal penalties.
Event Rounds:
Round 1 (Preliminary - Online):
- Teams must submit a 20-30-second video demonstrating their boat’s functionality in water.
- The video should include boat dimensions and motor specifications.
- Submissions are mandatory to qualify for the next round.
Round 2 (Wave Basin Challenge):
- Teams race through a specified path with obstacles in the wave basin at IIT Madras.
- Penalty: Skipping or hitting obstacles adds a 5-second penalty.
- Time Limit: Boats must finish within 7 minutes.
- Winners are determined by the fastest completion times.
Rules and Specifications:
- Boat Dimensions:
- Length: 35-50 cm
- Breadth: 15-35 cm
- Motor Speed: Must not exceed 9000 RPM.
- Team Composition:
- Maximum of 4 members per team.
- Inter-college teams are allowed.
