Robo Oceana: Stages and Timelines

Eligibility Round (via Unstop)

The teams are required to record and submit a video demonstrating their hovercraft climbing a ramp with an angle greater than 15°, while carrying a table tennis ball picked up from the bottom (the picking-up process must also be shown)

Wild Card Submission Round (via Unstop)

  • The teams are required to record and submit a video demonstrating their hovercraft climbing a ramp with an angle greater than 15°, while carrying a table tennis ball picked up from the bottom (the picking-up process must also be shown)
  • The teams who didn't get finalized previoudly in round 0(the eligibility round) can also resubmit their video.

Main Round(Offline)

The main round will be offline and time bound.

  • The round starts with placing a hovercraft at the starting location in the land arena and picking a ball from there.
  • The hovercraft must carry the ball with the robotic arm and move through the water arena having obstacles.
  • The cuboidal drop box for the ball will be attached to the arena and the hovercraft has to drop the ball into it.
  • The team has to repeat the process until the time runs out noting that only one ball must be picked at a moment.
  • Try as many balls you can pick and drop in the drop box within the time given.

All that you need to know about Robo Oceana

Overview:

Robo Oceana is an exhilarating event that puts your engineering and robotics skills to the test. The mission is to build a robot that can seamlessly navigate both land and water while completing challenging tasks. Your robot must collect floating objects from the water and deliver them to designated points on land. It’s a true test of versatility, stability, and control.

Arena and Challenges:

  • The arena has two zones: a water zone with various obstacles and a land zone with ramps or rough surfaces.
  • The task requires navigating obstacles, ensuring stability on water, and efficiently transitioning to land.
  • Precision, speed, and control will be essential for achieving top scores.

Competition Format:

  • Demonstration Round: An online round where teams showcase their robot’s balance, buoyancy, and object-handling skills, proving it can handle both environments .
  • Main Challenge: In a timed round, robots collect as many objects as possible, maneuvering through obstacles and completing transitions. Points are earned based on successful object retrieval, precise object placement, and efficient timing.

Scoring and Evaluation:

  • Points are awarded for successful object retrieval, precision in object placement, and time taken.
  • Creativity, stability, and innovative design are key to impressing the judges.
