All that you need to know about Aagaaz: Indian Classical Group Singing Comp

Aagaaz is a common Urdu word that means 'The Beginning'. Long ago, the
Orientalists fantasized about the East and its culture. A big part of that culture is the music we hold dear to our ears for its pleasant melody and unparalleled class. Enthrall audiences with your control over the sensuous instruments of taans and aalaps. Let these be the grounds where you prove your worthiness as heirs to this proud heritage.

Who is Eligible?

  • Any group comprising of members who are college students.
  • Cross-college instrumentalists are allowed, although all vocalists must be
    from the same college.

How to Enter?

  • Prelims deadline: 30th September
  • The prelims video entry should be 5-10 mins. It must be a single take.
  • Participants need to send their Soundcloud link, Google Drive link, or YouTube
    link (Do provide public access to your uploaded video)
  • The results will be intimated to the shortlisted participants.
  • Offline Registration will not be considered.
  • On-the-spot registration by the group leader is compulsory for slotting.

Rules:

  • The group should have a minimum of six vocalists.
  • The time limit for the performance is 10+2 minutes (including sound checks),
    exceeding which a deduction in the score for that performance will take place as per the rules decided by the judges.
  • Maximum 3 Instruments are allowed (IITD will provide a keyboard. Drums are
    not allowed)
  • The genre of music should be Indian Classical only (like Hindustani and
    Carnatic but Ghazal and Qawwali do not qualify).

Certificates and Prizes worth 15k+ will be given to the top 3 teams.

BRCA Guidelines:

  • BRCA, IIT Delhi reserves the right to disqualify any team promoting obscenity through their act.
  • BRCA, IIT Delhi reserves the right to cancel the prelims stage in case of unforeseen circumstances.
  • BRCA, IIT Delhi reserves the right to change the prize money before the commencement of the prelims.
  • In the case of any dispute, the organizers' decision will be final and binding.
  • The organizers are not responsible for the non-completion / non-occurrence of the event.
  • The organizers have all the right to cancel, reschedule, postpone, and amend the show. In the event of any dispute, the organizers' decisions are final and binding on the applicant.
  • Deadlines are determined by the number of entries.
  • The decisions of the Jury/Judges are final.
  • The promoter and organizer of the competition is Rendezvous and IIT Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi, and all entries become the property of the organizer once submitted. The judge’s decision will be final and binding to all. IIT Delhi reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry at any time during the event if it is found that the entrant has not complied with the rules mentioned or has acted in a disruptive manner.

Rendezvous, BRCA, and IIT Delhi follow a strict anti-discrimination policy. All participants are expected to refrain from any form of identity-based discrimination during the event.

Rendezvous strives toward making its events inclusive and accessible. Therefore, in case of any participants who have any form of benchmark disability or are gender non-conforming, then the participating team should inform the event POC in advance if any necessary arrangements are required to cater to the unique needs of the participants.

About Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi

    13. To organize our study programmes to prepare manpower also for self-employment and for the unorganized sector.
