MEMEFEST: Stages and Timelines
Prelims
In the preliminary round, contestants will have to submit a meme in the template format of their choice (Image/VideoMemes/Reels/GIFs, etc.). The submission with the best memes will be selected for the next round by a panel of judges. The memes which are posted should adhere to the guidelines given at the end of the rulebook.
Submission Round (via Unstop)
The final round will be held at IITD during Rendezvous in front of a live audience. The finalists will be judged by the jury as well as the audience. The finalists must submit A NEW SET OF MEMES on the themes that their meme has been selected for. One best entry from round 1 and one best entry from round 2 will be played in finals. Just like the first round, VideoMemes/Reels/GIFs are allowed for submission. It is NOT mandatory for the participants to be present during the final.

About Rendezvous:
Rendezvous, the annual cultural fest of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, is North India’s largest Cultural Fest. It is a three-day extravaganza held in October that fuses meticulous planning with a stellar turnout to create an unforgettable experience. A convergence of diverse disciplines draws over 160,000 attendees from 1000+ colleges to enjoy 500+ events.

Eligibility:
- Students who are registered in any program in an educational institute in India and have a valid Identity card.
- Participants between the age of 16 to 30 years are eligible.
Guidelines:
- Create memes for humor purposes, avoiding any intent to hurt sentiments.
- Abusive words and any form of explicit content are strictly prohibited.
- Disqualification will result from any form of racism, sexism, or offense towards any community.
- Plagiarism in any form will lead to disqualification.
- The final decisions of the Jury and moderators are binding.
Event Format:
- The event will consist of two rounds:
1) Prelims: to be held online
2) Finals: to be held offline at IIT Delhi
Themes:
The participant will have to submit their meme under one of the following themes:
- Pop Culture: trends, celebs, entertainment, movies, sports, TV shows, songs, comics, and games.
- Life Stages in Memes: college life, school life, jobs, old age, midlife, relationships, and romance
- Social Commentary: society, social issues, politics, nature, environment, country politics, fantasy, and mythology
- Nerdy Memes: science, geek, and competitive exams-related memes
Hashtags While Posting:
This part is now optional. If the participants wish, they can post with the following hashtags -

- #rendezvous

- #memefest
- #LOL
Prelims:
In the preliminary round, contestants will have to submit a meme in the template format of their choice (Image/Video Memes/Reels/GIFs, etc.). The submission with the best memes will be selected for the next round by a panel of judges. The memes which are posted should adhere to the guidelines given at the end of the rulebook.
- Registrations via Unstop.
- VideoMemes/Reels/GIFs are allowed for submission.
- Video memes must be of a maximum of 1 minute
- It is NOT mandatory to post memes on Instagram/Facebook Handles with the Hashtags given on the next page to be eligible for judgment.
- Participants have to attach the Instagram link of the memes/reels/GIFs from an open account or can attach a drive link with their submission, the date of edit however should not be later than 2nd october. Failing to do so may lead to disqualification.
- Memes should be visible to the public.
- Participants may enter as individuals or in teams (maximum members - 5).
- There are given themes on Unstop, and participants may send entries on single/multiple themes.
- The participants have the independence to use any template of their preference (multiple templates in one meme allowed).
- The memes that are posted should adhere to the guidelines.
- The participants are free to create as many Memes, but only one meme will be chosen out of all.
- Top Teams will be chosen for the final round, to be held in IIT Delhi.
- The last date to post the memes is 2 October 2023.
Finals:
The final round will be held at IITD during Rendezvous in front of a live audience. The finalists will be judged by the jury as well as the audience. The finalists must submit A NEW SET OF MEMES on the themes that their meme has been selected for. One best entry from round 1 and one best entry from round 2 will be played in finals. Just like the first round, VideoMemes/Reels/GIFs are allowed for submission. It is not mandatory for the participants to be present during the final.
- The participants have to submit a new entry, a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 4 memes for the finals.
- Teams are required to submit their new entries before the deadlines as persuaded via the Rendezvous team.
- The best meme submitted in the first round AND the best meme submitted in the second round will be considered for marking in the finals.
- Participants should not share the memes for round 2 anywhere except on an unstop link.
- Memes will go through a plagiarism check.
- It is mandatory for the teams to stick to the theme(s) they've been selected for.
- Before the finals, a panel of judges will select the best meme out of the new set of submitted memes.
- The selected memes will be showcased in front of a live audience during Rendezvous
- The Jury will rate the meme and assign points to each.
- The audience vote will also be taken into consideration.
- VideoMemes/Reels/GIFs are allowed for submission.
- The uploaded memes must adhere to the provided guidelines.
- The decision of the Jury will be considered final and binding.

General Guidelines:
- BRCA, IIT Delhi reserves the right to disqualify any team promoting obscenity through their act.
- BRCA, IIT Delhi reserves the right to cancel the prelims stage in case of unforeseen circumstances.
- BRCA, IIT Delhi reserves the right to change the prize money before the commencement of the prelims
- In the case of any dispute, the organizers' decision will be final and binding.
- The organizers are not responsible for the non-completion / non-occurrence of the event.
- The organizers have all the right to cancel, reschedule, postpone, and amend the show. In the event of any dispute, the organizers' decisions are final and binding on the applicant.
- Deadlines are determined by the number of entries. The decisions of the Jury/Judges are final.
The promoter and organizer of the competition are Rendezvous and IIT Delhi, Hauz Khas, New Delhi, and all entries become the property of the organizer once submitted. The judge’s decision will be final and binding to all. IIT Delhi reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any entry at any time during the event if it is found that the entrant has not complied with the rules mentioned or has acted in a disruptive manner.
