20,000 virtual internships launched by AICTE, Cisco, NASSCOM FutureSkills for second and third-year students

AICTE, Cisco, NASSCOM FutureSkills have announced the launch of 20,000 virtual internships for students currently in the second or third year of graduation. Chairman of AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education) Prof. Anil Dattatraya Sahasrabudhe said, “Unless students get internship opportunities, industries can’t expect trained talent. Hard-core exposure and industry internships are a must."

In the internship process, students will be required to first take a self-paced online course, completing which they will be eligible to apply for the virtual internship process at Cisco. The two courses available for the students are based on cybersecurity: Introduction to Cybersecurity, which is optional, and Cybersecurity Essentials, which is mandatory to become eligible to apply for the Cisco Networking Academy Virtual Internship. 

President of Cisco, Sameer Garde said that the demand for Cybersecurity professionals is rapidly outpacing supply. According to NASSCOM reports it is likely to grow 5x in the near future. We need no less than a digital revolution to close the skill gap.

Aim of the virtual internship

The 3 organizations that have launched this program aim to increase the employability potential of students through this virtual internship and help them take their first step in the field of cybersecurity which is and will remain in huge demand in the coming years. CEO AICTE, Dr. Chandrasekhar Buddha said that the aim of this internship program is to increase the employability of fresh graduates through ‘learning by doing’. We want that our students are equipped with industry-ready skills as soon as they walk out of the college.

Important details

Interested students should keep the following important points in mind while applying for the virtual internship:

1. AICTE will communicate with the colleges/institutions directly.
2. Communication will be amplified by NetCad partners.
3. Students will be required to register on the AICTE Internship Portal. The link for the same is as follows: https://internship.aicte-india.org/register_new.php
4. Students will then have to enroll for NetCad courses either through college or the FutureSkills Prime portal.
5. A quiz will be conducted by NetCad partners after which a certificate will be provided with AICTE and FS Prime logo.
6. Students can then register on the NetCad portal and apply for the Cisco Networking Academy Virtual Internship.
