Advanced Programme in Global Economy and Digital Money – A combined initiative by IIM Calcutta and TalentSprint
IIM Calcutta recently launched its third programme, Advanced Programme in Global Economy and Digital Money, with the help of TalentSprint. This programme is designed to empower thousands of business experts, leaders, policy makers, professionals, regulators and economists on finance and investment in the field of commerce. A third in the lot, IIM Calcutta had previously launched two other programmes of FinTech and AI Powered Marketing.
The Advanced Programme in Global Economy and Digital Money is constructed to realise and understand the undeniable impact and repercussions of the increasing digitalization and the emergence of central bank digital currencies on the global economy. The institute is now accepting applications for the first batch of this new programme, which is all set to begin in September 2020.
Digitalization, over the last few years, has brought enormous changes in the entire global economy. The existing boundaries between different countries have dissolved, so much that the decisions made by one directly impact the other.
Because of the pandemic, many things are on hold – market structures along with the global demand and supply chains are disrupted. There is a rising fear that banknotes may no longer be safe, when seen from the perspective of public health. This has reiterated the essence of digitalising money, where it goes through significant transformations. The regulatory bodies are spreading awareness regarding the use of digital currencies. The pandemic has disarranged normal situations and today, it is incumbent upon us to reshape and digitalize the world at large.
Advanced Programme in Global Economy and Digital Money is a six-month programme which shall be carried through ‘a hybrid executive format’. Added to this, there will be live interactive online sessions over TalentSprint’s digital learning platform iPearl.ai. Partha Ray, Professor of IIM Calcutta and the Programme Director said, “The distinction between money and data is blurring at a fast pace. Digitalization, which is already happening at a massive scale and speed, will be fueled further by the emergence of central bank digital currencies. The post-pandemic global economy could usher in a new normal. Through this programme, we aim to teach professionals and decision-makers how to harness these techno-economic disruptions to drive superior outcomes in terms of growth, profitability and policy."
Dr. Santanu Paul, CEO & MD, TalentSprint, said: “This programme is being launched at precisely the right moment. Building a solid understanding of the digital economy and the future of money is now critical for anyone who needs to prepare for a disrupted world economic order and a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape. TalentSprint is delighted to partner with IIM Calcutta to bring this state-of-the-art programme to the market. This is the third executive programme we have launched in partnership with IIM Calcutta, and we look forward to many more.”
