This year, with the coronavirus pandemic still in place, the effect seemed minute on placements. BITS Pilani, one of the top-ranking engineering colleges in India serves as an example of this. BITS Pilani placement achieved 99% of 2020’s figures in terms of the number of students placed. BITS Pilani, Goa, and Hyderabad placed 1947 students out of a total of 1961 students to achieve a 99%+ placement record overall too.

A growth of 9.6% was seen in the median CTC, which was recorded to be INR 15.6 lakhs as against INR 14.3 lakhs in the previous year. The average CTC also saw a growth of 8.14% at INR 18.05 lakhs as compared to INR 16.7 lakhs in the last year. The BITS Pilani placement along with other campuses’ placements was conducted in two phases. Half of the final batch sits for placements in August while the other half in January. Here are a few highlights of the drive.

IT biggies were seen as prominent recruiters

Consulting and management roles gain attention

With businesses gearing up, more and more positions were offered to students in areas like cloud computing, network security, data science, machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), and cybersecurity. But the major highlight of the BITS Pilani placement drive was the gamut of companies that offered the students roles in consulting and product management.
