The moment we got to know we are the campus winners of Flipkart WiRED 2018, all three of us jumped from our chairs and ran to hug each other. We were happy and a bit curious about the next set of instructions for the final round.
The case study was very interesting and we had a solution that we thought was worth a shot, so we went ahead with it. We first carried out primary as well as secondary research. We interviewed people from nearby villages to derive insights. Working on the final round, we truly understood the meaning of the phrase 24x7!
Our team was the best team I could have asked for. And yes, there were conflicts at times but that is extremely necessary to explore different ideas. We generally looked for alternatives and used to fight for hours to perfect each and every idea of ours. Our team’s forte was persistence and hard work. We used to sit together to brainstorm and never left the room until we resolved the problem.
We all are from different backgrounds, a mixture of arts and engineering domains. Also, we had varied interests in categories like fashion, technology, and gamification. This gave us the diversity we needed to ace this competition. Our team was our strength and we were positive of achieving victory in this competition.
There were 9 teams in the finale. The team from XLRI Jamshedpur felt like they could be our toughest competitor. They had done great research and seemed confident. Flipkart team organized Flipkart WiRED 2018 very well except for a few last-minute changes in the duration of presentations. We have learnt to be more concise and practical with our ideas. We didn’t expect anything from the competition except for a good fight and we definitely got that.
