Online applications are invited under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment’s scheme for free coaching and financial assistance for SC and OBC students. Students under these categories whose family income is less than INR 8 Lacs per annum may benefit from the scheme.

Free Coaching Scheme: Basic Details

From the total number of seats, 60% of the seats will be allotted to students UG level (qualification criteria will be bachelor's degree) and the remaining 40% of seats will be allotted to students of Higher Secondary level (qualification criteria will be 12th pass).  

Allotment to the seats for SC and OBC will be in the ratio of 70:30. The Ministry of Justice and Empowerment may also impose relaxation on the ratio if adequate numbers of students for a category are not available.  

For each category, merit lists shall be drawn upon, for which the number of slots in a certain category will be balanced with the number of students. Waiting lists will also be drawn upon for each category, which shall be equal to the allocated slots for a category.  

Free Coaching Scheme: Important Instructions 

  • Applications will be accepted in ONLINE MODE ONLY.
  • Applicants who clear the selection process will have to join any coaching institute that they desire within six months of the release date of merit lists. 
  • Students must upload the payment receipt of course fees along with a copy of the relevant bank entry indicating the payment of fees in their bank passbook. 
  • The aforementioned documents must be submitted on the online portal along with a certificate from the student’s institute declaring their admission into the institute and payment of the total course fee. 
  • The institute's course fee or the Ministry's mandated course fee as per the scheme's annexure, whichever is less, shall be payable.
  • If the course fee exceeds the specified amount, the candidate must find the remaining funds from other sources.
  • The coaching fee will be paid in one installment via DBT and will be released within two weeks of the candidate uploading the fee receipt proving payment to the institution.
  • As a result, this is on a reimbursement basis.
  • Selected students will receive a stipend of INR 4000 per month for the duration of the course or 9 months, whichever is less.

Free Coaching Scheme: Important Dates

Official date of opening of applications May 1
Closing date of applications May 31
Date for declaration of merit lists(PMS and TCS students) June 5
Date for declaration of merit lists for other students June 30
Last date of joining coaching institutions and uploading payment receipts (PMS & TCS students) December 4
Last date of joining coaching institutions and uploading payment receipts (other students) December 29
Release of coaching fees Within one month of submission of payment receipt
Last date for uploading exam hall ticket Within 30 days of the date of entrance exam (for which coaching has been taken)
Release of stipend Within 30 days of uploading the exam hall ticket and self-certification (regarding the conduction of the examination)
