Microsoft research internship

Considered as one of the big fives in the US IT industry, Microsoft is best known for its software products such as the Microsoft Windows line of operating systems, the Microsoft Office suite, and the Internet Explorer. Although the internships at Microsoft are found all year-round, most of them are rolled at the beginning of the Summers.

Major highlights of the research internship at Microsoft are as follows:

• During their internship stint, students will be guided by mentors
• They are expected to contribute to the company by learning and pairing with other researchers and interns
• It will be a salaried internship
• Students will be granted help with visa applications if needed.
• Applicants must be enrolled in an undergraduate, master, or doctoral program in any university
• The interested candidates can also be recent graduates

Google research internship

The interested interns will be given an opportunity to work on challenges in artificial intelligence, machine perception, data mining, machine learning, natural language understanding, privacy, computer architecture, networking, operating systems, storage and data management, and much more. They are also expected to contribute to the wider research community by publishing papers.

Major highlights of the research internship at Microsoft are as follows:

• Location: Bengaluru, Karnataka, India
• The applicant must be enrolled in a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science/related technical field
• Must have some experience in the following (either classroom or work):
• Programming languages like Java, C++, or Python
• Natural Language Understanding 
• Neural Networks
• Computer Vision 
• Machine Learning
• Deep Learning 
• Algorithmic Foundations of Optimization
• Data Science
• Data Mining and/or 
• Machine Intelligence/Artificial Intelligence
• If the applicant has published any research paper or has experience with research communities, it will add as a plus point
• The interns will work closely with Research Scientists and Software Engineers
• The candidate must be available for a minimum of 13 weeks (full-time)

Google STEP internship

Curated specifically for undergraduate students with a flaming passion for computer science, STEP focuses on providing technical training and professional development. The internship offers an opportunity to work on a software project alongside other STEP interns and full-time Googlers. 

Major highlights of the STEP internship at Google are as follows:

• The applicants will be able to work either at Bengaluru or Hyderabad
• The interested candidate must be enrolled in the second year of the Bachelor’s program with the intention to major in CS/related technical field
• The ones with excellent programming skills - C++, Java, Python will be given preference
• The candidates must be willing to give 10-12 weeks to the company (full-time)
