29-year old Tuesday Carne, once an employee of Google was fired from her position after working just for 9 days! For obvious reasons, she filed a complaint against her employer with National Labor Relations Board.

Her role at Google was to maintain the equipment at one of the company's sites in South Carolina. As many know, Google hires employees for these roles with contract firms such as Modis, a unit of Adecco Group AG.

The Googley factor: What went wrong?

Carne, who has high hopes of getting back at the job, was reported saying, "I want my job back. It felt like someone took the winds out of my sails."

But after successfully moving from Michigan to take the role, what went wrong with Carne?

After working 7 days at Google, she attended a routine meeting in the second week where the managers reviewed her upcoming schedules. Unaware of the policy of getting double pay on working holiday shifts, Carne came out strongly on hearing that it is applicable just for the employees who have been with the company for at least six months.

She replied, "That's bulls…."

It did not take long for the company to email her calling her behavior - unacceptable and ungoogley!

And within the blink of an eye, she was FIRED!

Will Carne be reinstated at Google?

After receiving the mail from a Modi's manager, she connected with Alphabet Workers Union (AWU), a labor advocacy group. It is surprising that Google had already settled a separate labor lawsuit from the AWU at the exact south South Carolina location earlier this year.

According to AWU, the company's large contract workforce earn far less than their Google employees and gets access to lesser perks. However, other contract workers like Carne are Google's essential workers, argued Rachael Sawyer, an AWU steward.

As per reports, she stated, "If anything were to happen to the data center, Google could not function at all," she said.

As opposed to the company's allegations, Carne believes she is 'Googley' enough because she has sued Google, and Modis, for their stupid reason to terminate her. Currently, she is the Executive Assistant at Integrity Business Solutions Provider, but will she be reinstated at Google?
