Securing an internship at Procter & Gamble requires a candidate to pass through the three stages of the selection process which are:
- CV Shortlisting
- Personal Interview with the Project Manager
- Personal Interview with the Executive Director of Marketing
The Procter & Gamble selection process is a tough nut to crack. Nevertheless, I was able to breeze through all the rounds. When I finally got the selection call, I fell short of words to explain my excitement to my family members and friends.
What was my role during my internship at Procter & Gamble?
As a part of Procter & Gamble, I was associated with a project that focused on the Product Launch of a Brand. This dynamic role required a lot of perseverance and allowed me to tap into my hidden potential. I had always been looking forward to such a diverse role.
What did I learn during my internship?
The extent of the role assigned to me nudged me out of my comfort zone and made me think outside the box. My decision-making skills, analytical bent of mind and the ability to draw insights from the given data were chiseled during my internship at Procter and Gamble Health. I also got to meet a lot of knowledgeable people who were a great help in planning my Primary Research Methodology.
My internship at Procter & Gamble gave me hands-on experience in the dynamics of the healthcare industry. Overall, it was an exhilarating experience that is going to stay with me forever.
What is the work culture at Procter & Gamble?
To attend my internship, I moved to Mumbai. Since the internship promised to offer an experience that was aligned with my long term interests, the move seemed organic. As a part of our first team outing, we went to Vikhroli Social with the senior leaders of Procter & Gamble. It was a great session of interaction and a gamut of new learning! We had a chance to sneak peek into their professional stories. They gave invaluable insights as to how we could progress in our careers. Overall, it was an enjoyable, informative and memorable experience.
Given a chance, I would grab the opportunity to work with Procter & Gamble Health in the blink of an eye. The emphasis on knowledge creation, inclusive practices and the network of erudite senior management are some of the reasons that attract me most towards this organization.
There is enough scope for introspection so that everyone ends up working in the domain that intrigues him or her.
What did I learn from my mentor during my internship?
During the course of my internship at Procter & Gamble, I had the fortune of gaining some invaluable insights from my mentor. His constant guidance and support made even an uphill task seem easier to me. The key takeaways from his review and feedback sessions were:
- Certain recommendations have to be in line with the overall strategy of the launch.
- The finer objectives of the launch have to be completed in an organized fashion to fulfill the overall objective of the project.
- Also, there should always be a validating mechanism to tally the sales/revenue projections that you are working on. Additionally, brand positioning has to be very crisp. It should lay out the USPs clearly on the table for the consumers to differentiate.
In a nutshell, doing an internship at Procter & Gamble Health was one hell of an experience. My internship at Procter & Gamble made me tap into my capabilities that even I didn't know I had! It was a journey of self-discovery, learning and unlearning. I was able to forge connections and friendships that are definitely going to stay with me forever.
